You do know they build different versions of the Saleen right? One is REAL NASTY! Be careful.
A guy at work has one and its in the 10's with just a cat back! Well and the Roush (sp?) blower he has probly helps him to.

There are 3 Versions of Saleens
S281 - Body Kit, Suspension, CAI, and Exhaust 265-270hp
S281SC - Same as above with with blower 350hp?
S281SC Extreme - Same as above with smaller pulley, and more aggressive tune 445hp
If he has the base S281 he will be in the low 14s just like a stock GT would. If he has the S281SC he will be in the low 13s and with the Extreme he will be in the 12s. Any way you look at it if hes stock your gonna kill him.

^^ that's some really good info! I didn't know there were differences--in fact, I didn't know there were different versions; thanks for the info! I love learning all I can about pretty much any kind of car.
Orlando--maybe I'm biased, but I think you'll win.
S281's are nice and all...but your car is nuts. Which reminds me, there's a guy I know in Layton named Brandon that works at a Discount Tire--drives a silver SRT-4 with carbon fiber fenders. He tells me he's dumped a buttload into his car and should be in the 11's soon. Seen him around @ RMR? Nice guy, and he always hooks me up with a decent price when I need tire/wheel work done.

If you want one for looks buy a GT and put a Saleen body kit if you want one for the performance for the price of one you can easly build a much better and badder car for the money.
Hell the new Saleen S281 Extreme Coupe is $71k yes $71,000 and it comes with the basic 3V motor with a Blower making 550hp. It dose have forged internals but you can get a GT500 for 5k over sticker pretty easly now which puts you at 51k. That leaves you $20k and you have a better transmission and a 5.4L that you can add just a $3,500 Whipple 3.3 and make 700rwhp with. You would even have enough money to put in stronger rods and pistons and make even more power.
I like Saleens and Roushs but your paying for the name more than your paying for the performance. There is a guy in Fort Wayne I've seen a few times and I finally got to race him, he has an 06 S281SC 465hp with a few options and he said the car stickerd for $66k. When we raced we went from a 30mph roll up to about 100mph and I put around 10 cars on him. My car including mods is just a little ove $30k.
No problem.
If I was that guy I wouldn't want to race you either because your gonna rape the guy even if he is moded it would take a built motor with around 12-16psi, depending on compression and supporting mods, to beat you. Oh and the most important part a good driver.

Im not a big Ford or Mustang fan, but that is one sexy and fast car!

My two favorite pics:

We looked at Saleens when we were looking for the Shelby and I drove an 06 281SC and one of the Parnelli Jones Saleens and they just werent any better than the Shelby. The PJ was cool because it had the 5.0 Cammer Motor in it and it sounded sweet but I didn't like the looks of it that much inside or out.
Yep we have one! Its cool I know a guy with a 67 White w/ Blue Stipes Shelby and we're going to meet up and gets some pics.
My two favorite pics:

This is wy Saleen is still in business if every one was like me they would have no market. Alot of people like saying they have the real deal and I at once always wanted to get one but after driving a few I just wasn't impressed to spend the extra money for one.

I haven't done anything to it yet, all my money keeps going into my fast car (GT) LOL and since my transmission is on its way out and I need to put new gears in it, it will be next year untill the mods start being done to the Shelby. I want to get an low 11 second run with my stock automatic and my 4.10s arent allowing me to run the full 1/4 mile. My 11.6 run was letting off at or a little before the 1000' mark and all with an "OK" 1.85 60'.
Why are you god damn neons so god damn fast. WTF!!! I always get beat by ******* neons. ALL you have to do is look at the wastegate the wrong way and cut the exhaust off and they run 12's!!! GOD they are so damn fast, WTF!!
Anyway good luck, I'm sure you and your ungodly fast neon with completely pwn all.

UPDATE:
Well he backed out this whole weekend, made excuses each time too.
So I met up with my friend who has a 97 BMW M3 cuz he thought he'd keep up. I won without leaving 2nd gear from a 40mph roll.
