Better hope he's not chipped....or else he'll be waving "bye bye" to you in his mirror.

.... oh wow...
The bass guitarist in my buddies band bought an '06 GTI... upgraded the exhaust, did some turbo mods, and had a custom map made...
He wanted to race me when I got my SS-SC... I blew the doors off that Vdub 3 times... twice from a stop, and once from a 50km/h roll...

So my experince with them says stock/slightly modded GTI = Slow. Altough I know they have alot of potential in them... so be careful of which GTI's you race!

Best way to tell is to just race but I would put my money on the Balt stock for stock. If you race to 130mph he will have to stop due to the electronic limit on his VW unless he removed it

I owned a chipped 2003 jetta before I got my cobalt. They have tremendous acceleration but die above 80. To be honest, because I owned a jetta and I know how fast they can be, I am very hesitant to race one.

My previous car was an 02 chipped GTI....There were other mods as well but i didnt lose often & had been dead even from 45-120 w/ a stage 2 SRT4....Never raced an SS/SC with it but i'd imagine unless it was Stage 2 I would have taken one w/ no problem at all.....I Dynoed at 233 WHP & 255 Torque.

GTI 2.0T plus intake may give him enough juice to compete, you'll find out who's the better driver that's for sure.

two nights ago on my way back home i saw this car coming from behind me, it was the new gti

so we go from a 45 and guess what by the time i hit 90 he was like 5 or 7 cars behind me (remenber i got the stg2 and the 2.8 pulley)and i let go of the throtle and slow down to like 40 by this time he was still behind me so decided to do a flyby but when i saw him coming fast i hit the throtle and he couldnt even kept up with me and still beat him for like 3 by the time i hit 100 we raced like two more times and pull to a gas station and i was suprise to find out the guy driving the car was and old friend of mine from high school

i really like those gti they are nice cars and i told him next time i will race him with my 06 si

Practice before you race so you don't embarrass yourself. You said you just got the car so I'm sure your not the best driver?!

No! Way My budy has APR stage 2 pluss 3" catless exahust I still beat him but not bad
Hes around 230whp and about 300Wtq
It will be a close race stock to stock get stage 1 and a 2.8 pully do the airbox mod and you will rape him!

Only ever raced one....im thinkin he was probably stock because it was pretty embarrasing for him

instant 1 car, and kept pulling.

but if hes modded look out. those things wake up fast to mods.

Some Douche Bag in a 2003 GTI VR6 provoked me into racing him this morning.
He rode my ass for like a good mile or two before I let loose on him.
I didn't want to race but I had to show him whos Boss.
We were at a 55mph roll and I took him by 5 car lengths.
Stage 1 06 SS/SC vs Stock 03 GTI VR6.
You should be able to take um.

Different engine then the 06+ GTI. The 06+ has 2.0 turbo which performs better in stock form versus the VR6.

I raced a 06 GTI from a 40 roll and got a half a car to car on him. I am stock and pretty sure he was too. They are not slow.

thats probably 290 at the crank though. get stage 2 and a 2.85" pulley, cai and a downpipe to own his ass. it will be hard to hear your s/c over the sound of him crying
