so this dude with a 98 jetta vr6 stock with just a chip wants to run me, what do you guys think will be the outcome.... I have CAI, header, and full exhaust, 2.4 tb and intake mani and tuned by hp tuner.

VR6 walked away from me at 70+ (im an auto so 3rd gear is horrible for me). It would been a lot more even if it was from 40 or so.

yea those vr6's put out around 200 horse so i'd say he'd take you

 

12v vr6s (93-02.5) are 178 to the crank stock, 24v vr6s (02.5-04) are 201 to the crank stock

him close to 200 with chip. you with full bolt ons and tune close to 190 or 200...
so maybe a drivers race from a 40... video

 

My buddies 96 Vr6 thats chipped with ported exhaust manifolds and exhaust walks my 2.4 auto with header catback and intake. And he walks it pretty hard... But his car weighs less and makes more power...

If your a 5spd you might be able to hang for a while. But he will top end you. Period.

Assuming he's a manual and your about as fast as I am he will get you. From the best I can tell Im a 15.4-15.5 car.

 

Especially when 2 slow cars are involved. Now that i think of it most "who will win" threads have slow cars racing...

Race him and stop guessing. Every car is different and will run different. Some are stronger than others from the factory, some are weaker, some are fucked up and the owner doesnt even know it, etc.

 

I had a buddy with a 2004 VR6 and it ran a 14.2... stock.

 

yes, it will be close. but he will most definatley get you by a couple cars

 

i'm thinking at least a car and if you're an auto you better brake torque or you'll get walked out of the gate.

 

That's a 24v vr6.. 2002.5 and up were 24v's.. came with 201hp .earlier models like the one the OP is talking about only came with 178hp... but I think its a Lil lighter
