Me vs. Carrera 2

Well the big day finally happened for my friend. Over our Spring Break my friend totalled his orgasmic Audi S4 when he got hit by an uninsured driver. After much deliberation he finally found the car we wanted and got a 1999 Porsche Carrera 2. It is absolutely gorgous, paint is in perfect condition and according to the previous owner has never seen rain. It has a set of $3,000 headers along with the rest of the exhaust, $1,000 a corner wheels and an aftermarket intake.

Well after taking a ride in his car and getting looks from every person we came across (keep in mind we are in Arkansas), we decided to see how the Cobalt stacked up. We decided to go from 40mph the first race, but actually ended up leaving from 35. Because I was right in between the 1-2 shift he pulled instantly and when we let off at about 100 he had about a half car on me. I was fairly happy with that, but wanted to test my luck again. I told him to go from around 45mph, and he agreed. We ended up going from 40mph and we pulled much more evenly until he missed the 2-3 shift. I kept my half car lead all the way to when we let off at 100. The final race we went from around 55mph. I put half a car on him instantly because he left in 3rd, kept my lead until we let off.

All in all they were definetely fun races and I was very happy with my cars performance. I believe that if we got in a clean race from around 40mph we would be dead even with him pulling slighly around 100. I noticed that I made up most my ground when he had to shift because of my longer gear ratios.

Even though we were pretty even, I can recognize the fact that his car is the complete hotness though. His car is incredible and would smoke my ass in pretty much every other race. I will post some pics up of his car when he gets some good ones. Comments?

I was about to call BS till I did a little checking. The 1999 Porsche weighs about what our Cobalt does and its base HP is around 260 (unless its turboed) However its top speed is almost 180mph.

So I'd say good kill and be glad you shut down cause he'd should have been able to walk you down eventualy.

I was gonna say that as well. Most of the NA Porsches aren't super fast. Watch out for the turbo ones though....they are retarded quick.

yeah they were around 300 stock, and im assuming that was crank, so 260 is prolly pretty accurate for wheel horsepower. keep in mind the torque curve on our cars will be better than on that car as well

Very nice! I really strongly believe with the stage 2, exhaust, intake/airbox mod our cars got some power. I actually just ran an Evo, first time ever actually, Sunday afternoon. I was going up to school and I was gonna drop something off at the post office but I saw this blue Evo get on the highway. I had to follow to see if he wanted to play... I got up beside him and just gave him the stare, we had about a good .5-1.0 mile straight stretch ahead of us. He did have atleast 3 people in the car including himself, windows were dark, so I couldn't really see too much. I was by myself. We left from about 70 mph and we ran to about 135 and he couldn't catch me. I couldn't believe it. I honestly thought he would eat me alive. I'm gonna assume it was stock and i'm sure the 3 people in the car didn't help him.

if he was stock and you had your mods, even with only him in the car you should walk him
