midnight snack

So last night the wife and I decided to go get a midnight snack at Steak n Shake. Ok, I talked her into it 'cause I wanted to see what was out late night .

So after grabbing a couple of shakes and chilicheese fries we head back down the local hiway on our way home. I see this M3 and give it a slow pass, he didn't take notice so I continued. Then this little Sentra decides he won't let me pass , so I acclerate in 4th and blow by, I notice the Beemers head lights lift a little and follow me. Hmmm nobody ahead but the stop light so I slow a little hoping to catch the red, meanwhile the Sentra tries for a flyby but decides to catch the red.

I'm in the center lane and the beemer takes the right. He revs his engine a little so I know he's obliging. I don't rev, just give a nod and a smile, wife just ducks in her seat and shakes her head. We see the yellow and he revs up, I bring it to about 1500 and wait for the green.

Man I could swear I heard the light click green and, screeeeechhhhh, we both take off, side by side through first, we shifted to second about the same time and i pull just a little, 40, 50, 60, he shifts to third, right when I heard the shift i knew I had him. My car kept pulling while the M3 had to coast for that brief moment he shifted, He's at my rear bumper when he completes his shift, I speed shift to third and bye bye M3. woohoooo.

I let up and wait to see what he'll do. He rolls up give me the thumbs up : and asked if I was stock. I just replied with "You don't think a stock cobalt could beat ya?" He shrugged his shoulders and said "Ya never know" I complimented his ride and we went on our way.

After all this the wife and I hear the Sentra and some other car flyby, we looked at each other and laughed.

Don't know the year but pretty sure it was the 240hp one. The newer ones are over 300 hp. This had 2 doors, can't remember if it had dual or single exhaust though, but I do remember the M3.

After the run I looked up some specs on the M3 just to see what I ran against. Those e46's are 300+ hp, ya know 0-60 in <5 sec. The e36 is 240 hp 0-60 <6 sec, which was more in our range.

I know, it was just a plain jane car, no ricer mod but the driver. He was prolly thinkin', it was a little past midnight nobody was out why not hit that 80mph speed limiter. Cops will catch those faster cars first.

Yeah I know, but i'm 2.5 pullied, all bolt ons, and 100 octane (tuned) so it shouldn't be a bad race....

E36's aren't taht fast....they CAN hit very very very high 13's but are normally 14 second cars 1/4 mile wise just to let you guys know. I was dead even with a modded one when I had a catback. 40 roll to about 100. He had exhaust from what I can tell. And I raced yet another one with just my catback but he put about a car on me from about 50-130

But belive it or not, I haven't raced anyone while I was pullied except my friends cobalt. No one around me wants to race anymore....oh well it's better off that way anyway

to all that wonder what an m3 is able to do . my older bro had an e36 m3 coupe. and stock for stock my rl comp pack would take it.. maybe not off the line but end of second for sure. as far as the new m3 race a 6speed manual. NOT the SMG. when i was stock tune i got walked(by 1.5cars) on the freeway cause of lagless shifts(SMG). havent run one stage 2. except for a dinnan modded and stripped 4 door(e36) at palmdale. he got me off the line and i passed him going into third and walked away by atleas1.5 cars.. he had never had a saturn pass him.

Damn, I shoulda looked at your mods first. You should run that 'balt at the track and make the top 10 1\4 mile list here.
