Ouch...

SS/SC VS. Civic Si Sedan

So I ran into my buddy at wally world last night whom I hadn't seen in a while. We talked for a bit, told him I bought my 07' SS/SC etc etc.

We are leaving wally world and he pulls in behind me at the light. Light turns green and after he pulls next to me we just cruise for several minutes.... Then finally it happen, the light ahead turned yellow...

Let me just go ahead and state the facts...
We both have our girls in the car...
2006 Civic Si Sedan only has performance tires and a cut up airbox mod.
My 07' SC is bone stock and has tires I've never heard of on it
I've had my car for 2 months and this was my first race let alone first launch....

So sitting at the light we are rev matching until we see the lights for the other side changing. Our light turns green and we take off. He immediately gets a good jump on my cause my launch sucked monkey nuts (about 1 car). Then after that he just slowly pulled away from me up to around 90 I'm guessing when he had about 2.5-3 cars...

Yeah, I felt like a rookie lemme tell ya... I guess that my calling for mods now...

you should have destroyed him. that must have been a terrible launch, or you and your girl are both land whales

lol... sorry to hear that, time for some mods alright. Practice that launch and, while most here don't agree, but get the stage 2 also. Just for reference, my stage 2 vs an si.....

I thought I would have won also but man did I roast them off the launch... I think it may also be my tires... they seriously are some knock off brand I've never heard of...

if your tires are roasting on the launch, it means your launching too hard. you have to go easy through first. i can't go full throttle in first, and if i shift hard to 2nd and dump it i will spin the entire way through 2nd, which is to a little over 70mph.

spinning tires means a loss of acceleration. you want to find that point where you can give as much gas as you can without spinning the tires so much.

I wouldn't say you need mods just yet. Figure out how to drive it first because you will KILL any stock(ish) SI

from a roll i walk away from a k20 08 civic si with cat-back and cai intake. from a dig if i launch good i beat him by a car by the time the ź mile is over if its longer than a ź i take 2 cars. just get your launchs down bro and you'll do just fine... this was when i was STOCK ss/sc also. i'm not flaming but you just needed a driver mod. i suggest you roll out of first gear at half thorttle to 3/4 to prevent spinning and wheel hop. just go out and practice one night when your girl has work or w.e. trust me thats the best way to launch at stock and before you go keep the rpms around 2˝k maybe 3 if you can really roll out of gear good.

Don't feel bad. My friend has an 08 si and she murders it off the line the few times we line up. I was surprised. It was quicker than i thought.

Yeah I have no doubts I suck at launching the car as of yet... I've only had the car 2 months and never launched... But I wont sit here and bitch about it. I know I should have won... Just thought I'd share the embarassing mayhem with everyone lol

well don't "shift hard" but shift smooth if you're shifting like a maniac you're gonna miss shifts and don't mash the launch hope that helps
