Out of all the irony..

...I got my first random encounter "street" run about 10 minutes ago on 1960 and low and behold, it was a black SS/SC with a girl driving. It happened the aldine westfield/1960 light near my neighborhood, I think she must go to the community college across from my neighborhood because I've seen her before. Anyway..on to the "race". I'm waiting to turn left onto 1960, she's behind me and gets rather close to my rear, so close that half her hood is covered by the tail-gate in the rear-view mirror. The light turns green, all is normal until I straighten up onto 1960 when she nails it from behind me, spins one of the tires (it hasn't rained at all at this time..but the roads are still slightly, slightly, slightly damp on this stretch of 1960) and comes flying by me. Well unfortunately for her the light at Treschwig turns red and she abruptly hits the brakes to stop. Now this is where I am completely, utterly guilty for being stupid...but I couldn't help myself to want to see how the Slowrado would compete from a dig w/ the Cobalt SS/SC (for obvious reasons lol). I slightly inched up more and more and could tell she was either in a hurry or knew she was driving a quick car because she played copy-cat and rolled up more as well. I knew she took the bait. The stock stall on the silverado is around 1500, I brake stalled to around 1200 to compensate for any spinning as the light turned yellow on the other side. She inched up more, apparently hearing the 5.3l "rev" slightly. The light turned green
(and THANK GOD for the G80 package..limited slip for the Silverado) and my tires went up in a heated flurry of smoke at least 7 feet long. From experience I figured I would leave her nicely from a dig as the SS/SC first gear is incredibly short and w/o pulley it takes a bit for it to get into it's powerband from the 1-2 shift. I had about two truck lengths on her but my suspiscions were confirmed when around 40mph-50mph she started reeling me in nicely. Not wanting to exceed the speed limit I let off the throttle. She drove past me in a "non-chalant" type of fly-by afterwards.

I cannot wait to start modding this thing. I can't imagine what she'll do just by tuning some of the torque management down and bumping the shift point from 5,200rpm to 5,900 or 6k.

edit: Funny thing is last time I saw her she had Munday Chevrolet plates...same place I bought my Cobalt...and my truck.

Dosen't superchips make a tune for those??

I/H/E and chip... you'll be in business. There are litterally millions of accessories out for the truck market... more than for any car.
