The satisfying sight in my rearview

So here's a bit of background:

All of my friends, exception of me, drive trucks. Out of my friends, the majority are 01 and newer Duramax's that they all have had chipped, intake and exhaust done. The fastest out of them, is still riding stock ride hieght with stock tires.

First week I got my SS/SC I raced the fastest truck. It was embarassing. Absolutely embarassing. Needless to say I went through some hazing due to the truck smashing my car....

Well, Driver mod 1, Intense Stage 3 w/2.9 and a Magna Flow muffler later the race went like this...

He put his hood in front of me through first, then I consistently walked away from him. Half way through 3rd I had atleast 5 lengths. We raced two more times from a dig, all with the same result. Then from a roll, which put me at more of an advantage, putting me farther ahead. Anyway, long story short, the last time we raced I gave him a considerable head start (We were doing a U turn, following each other, he goosed it, then I waited a good 10 seconds before I went. I caught him at the end of 3rd (roughly 110mph). When I passed him, he put his hand out the window like "WTF" and then he went home.

What a beautiful sight in my rearview....

For your friends to think a Duramax will compete with anything other than a stock, run-of-the-mill sedan is insane. I know those trucks can do 14's..but whose to say they will even come close to a blown AND modified 2 door coupe? That's ridiculous.

I have seen several trucks run in the 12s. They are not slow.

It's very easy to make BIG power out of them. Intake/Exhaust/Chip/Propane and you have one mean truck with a ton of torque!

How often do you see those on the street...

That's my point. Of course, anyone can make anything run fast, but how practical or common is it to see?

I assume you meant Duramax trucks...because a blown small block powered S-10 should not be counted, since those trucks are not heavy at all. I've seen low 11 sec. street trucks as well, none of which were Duramax. I believe it's a waste of time since they don't hook up worth crap. Not enough weight in the back for some street tires w/ 700ft lbs.

4wd and they dont hook up worth crap? i think not!!! my buddies cummins and duramax both toast me off the line along with many other faster cars. And it is very, very common and practical to see diesel trucks turned up to run in the 12's and 13's its just to damn easy. I see them all the time.

My bad, didn't consider 4wd. Just considering 2wd.

Lol, I agree it’s definitely not practical. But boy is it fun modding my truck! I cut 2.2 60fts brake torqueing on a stock stall just fine at the track! The street can get a little squirrely though.

Anyway back on topic, nice run!

Ya know, I'm not 100% sure what Driver Mod means, however from what I've gathered, if you are just dumping the clutch and burning through 1st gear....you don't have a drivier mod. I stay with my clutch as best I can to keep out of spinning my tires...

Driver Mod I think is just a smart ass thing someone made up on here. I was just trying to say I had a half decent launch with minimal spin.

and here in Utah, you see 13 second trucks everyday, on every commute.

Also, we'll get a camera man or two!

Last time I ran in Michigan there was a Duramax Reg Cab that went 15.6 the first time around. Second time around he got matched up against an STi driver we met at the track. The STi guy was bitching that it wouldn't be fair and he would probably run a shitty time without any competition. The truck ended up running a 13.2 to his 13.3. I'll never forget the look on his face afterwards

I assure you it was not intentionally made for bragging.

Both of those trucks are street legal and streetable.

Edit: Here is the one I've known about for a while. The guy's name is Parish. It isn't a diesel, but it is the fastest street driven truck I've seen.
