yepo.

even if the cobalt has over 300. it's still not going to hold a candle to the 1.5x 60ft of a setup mustang

What compression ratio are the pistons he put in... THAT is the real question. If he's running a high CR... you'll be toast for sure.

I think that should be CAM... only 1.

And if that's a 270 grind... damn, I feel sorry for you.

um... its a nitrous motor.. what do you think it is? probably 10.5/11:1

your gonna loose mang.. no way around it..but run him for ***** and giggles to see how far off ya are

true it is a no2 motor... you may have a decent shot at this. It looks as thought the motor was built for big hits. 200+, the next part to think about, is the tune, if he is tuned for a big hit, it will be a pig out of the hole because of the timing backed down. your looking at a 1.8, 1.9 or 2.0 60' from him.

if the tune is changed to run all motor, good luck with it... very slim chance that you will win.
I had a similar internal set up in my mustang, it ran 10's on the bottle and low 13's, high 12's of the bottled, but tuned for the bottle.

VT motors are not stock motors. They come stock with a 4.6 in '97. So it was stroked out to a 5.0. Its probably a high 12 sec car because they're heavy. On spray, it could be a bit faster depending on the shot it on.

Hope you can real him in, but you will probably loose by about as much as he gets you out of the hole. I know that the verts are heavier, but the hole shot depends if he is a 5 sp or an auto. If it is an auto with out any kind of stall, your chances improve.

edit: is it a 1/4 or an 1/8th that you guys are running?

Trust me your in over your head. With just the stroker kit you looking at a 40-50rwhp gain. Then add heads and cams thats another 50-60rwhp.

Trust me thats a solid 350-370rwhp car that will pull mid 12s if he can drive.

I have a VT engine (stock displacement) in my car and they are very well built engines. Sadly VT went under and screwed alot of people after a new guy bought the company. I bought mine 1.5-2 years ago so it was before all that happened.

I did not join to stir the pot, simply to clear up a couple things that Rod seems to not know that I might not have mentioned before. Just want everyone to have the right info on my car before realy giving him opinions on the race..

The traction/syspension things:
UPR front coilovers
UPR tubular K member(chrome moly)
UPR chrome moly tubular A arms
Full length weld in sub-frame braces
Full hotchkis drag rear end setup(tubular control arms, drag launch springs, etc)
I am also running 15X10 Draglites with M/T drag tires.
Battery and 2 bottles in the trunk will help weight transfer a little bit.

Also as far as the tuning goes. I DO have a seperate tune for: N2Ow/93octane, NAw/93octane and for some crazy reason a stock tune saved on the tuner too lol.

And yes i HAVE raced before... many times.. at the local 1/8 mile track. Just no, not in this car with these mods yet. I will be hitting the 1/8 track this summer after i replace the clutch.

And one last edit to clear a couple last things up. it is a rev happy 10.5:1

No offense taken. I have missed a gear before. It isn't that big of a deal. And I asure you my axles are the least of my worries. The rear end has been built enough that I am more worried about my tranny at this point.

Care to share the estimated quarter mile time & trap of the car?

I'm guessing Low 12's off the bottle.
