Srt-8 Killed

HAHA first off i wanted too see how many people would come in here with BS on there mind ready to type in..

But anyways i was heading home tonight and i saw a pair of head lights moving up through traffic. As it came up behind me i saw it was a Jeep Cherokee SRT-8 and he really wanted to go, so i gave in. Started at a 40 roll and were even, i might have been inching, then when i shifted into 3rd i was leaving him at a good pace.

Then we happened to hit a light. I heard him rev up so i did the same, i did my best to launch with my unwarmed DR's and he ofcourse got a good launch but i managed to stay at his rear bumper and then by the end of second i was begining to gain on him and was a his door. Once i was in third it was like warp speed passing him but he hit the brakes too soon. Anywho at the strip it would have been a win for me for sure.

I call BS! j'k ...

Congrats on the kill. I've seen a few Charger and 300 versions of the SRT-8 around but not the Jeep - either one would be a nice ride though no doubt.

Yeah they have the 425 hp which is right around what i should have at the crank, maybe a little less. But with all wheel drive and gearing they are great until 60 or so, thats when i started to walk him. If we had done a 3rd gear pull it would have been an easy win for me. The only time he was even or ahead was the launch, even in second i was inching on him.

GM needs to realize that stage 3 SUCKS and they need to make us a Stage 3+ or a Stage 4... 60lbs injectors, Whipple S/C or the Eaton TVS!, and a GOOD Tune! Or something a long the lines of that!

They run high 13s, a lightly modded cobalt shouldnt have any trouble taking down one

Not too much worse, it was kinda chily out and my DR's were cold so the were slipping a bit but the outcome would have been the same with a good launch, just might have not of beat him until a higher mph.

What? i ran a 13.7 At 5,300' with a 6,500+' Da that night, i would be in the 12's at sea level, those trucks are probably a low 13 like a 13.2 or so, they are fast. It would take a highly modded cobalt to beat on from a stop and a mild-highly modded one to beat it from a roll. I smoked a stage 2 w/ 2.8" pulley, exhaust and intake.

I thought you would have pulled more than that if your GTO was modded, I usually pull on them midway through second and my GTO is 99% stock.

I have a stage 4 cobalt SS, and I have beaten 4 SRT-8's. 2 300's, 1 Charger, and the Jeep. (Have yet to race teh magnum, but I figure that is slower)

Surprisingly the Jeep is faster than the other SRT-8's. I ahd to take it to the top of 3rd to pass the Jeep. Fast as heck!

At the end of second i was deinfitly doing better than at the start of second but it wasn't a big difference until i shifted into third. I'd also like to mention my clutch is about two second from saying goodbye. I think its a combination of a faulty slave and that tearing up my clutch. But something else might be wrong too, i raced a 99 T/A w/ lid, no cats and slp exhaust and was just barely pulling him, kinda pissed me off.

If you are stock... he might beat you (From a 35 roll).

And the Jeep SRT-8 runs low 13's, High 12's... NOT high 13's!

I ran a SRT-8 300C from 35 and won...

That 425 usually goes down to 375 at the wheels... at least that is what 75% of them dyno'd at son the SRT forum i was on.

I find that hard to believe, I ran a Stage 2 balt with exhaust, intake and 2.8 and i beat him pretty damn good. I know a header isn't going to make that difference up specially the GMPP one. The guy in the balt is a good driver and giving it his all. How much did you win by and do you have and time slips or anything?

The 06 charger SRT8 is 4160lbs, yeah he would win. We would need around 250-275hp to even hang with him in the quarter.

Look at all of the decent drivers hitting 13.5, good drivers will run 13.2.

Now from 30 that's a closer ballgame.

Lemme call him up... see if we can get it on film sometime soon.
