ss/na vs mazdaspeed protege

well im on my way to my buddies house after i get off work and im just cruisin down the hwy at about 70... i see a mazdaspeed protege and i keep cruising at the same speed. when i pass the guy i notice in my mirror that he's rushing up behind me so i take cruise control off and let the car slow down to about 60 ish so i can drop it into 3rd. considering these cars are almost exact with 2.4 balts i figured it'd be a pretty cool run. I have intake header and custom exhaust and i can tell he has a FMIC, BOV and exhaust but idk wut else. as soon as i get into 3rd he got up on me about a fender all the way till i got to 4th. i hit 4th and i started to pull and i got to about half a car ahead and was still pulling but there was a van in front of him so he pulled back.. i know speed protege's aren't considered quick but i beat a boosted car so im cool with that. i need to hurry up and get my catless dp on to help me with that last bit of grunt!

Heh, yeah, stock MSP's are fun to mess with. It's even more fun when you hear their turbo start whooshing and they're still falling back.

the mazdaspeed protege's are fun cars, while they're def not drag cars, they are a total blast to drive.

If you had an SS S/C, he'd know... Last time I raced one I went from 50 in third, still walked him. But hey, let him think you have a S/C under the hood, build up his confidence, then let him race an LSJ for real, that'll be funny.

from wut i saw it takes alot to get power out of them. they can hit 200+whp tho easier than a 2.4 without boost/n2o can tho so thats a plus.

i have driven one, they are fun cars, but to get desent power out of them, you must build the block, the stock FS-DE rods are toothpicks..

Yea the Speed Protege was made for an all-fun car.. low boost, great handling. that car drives like its on rails.. i've yet to drive a car that handles so well as that (my car handles as well to me)..
You'll blow a stock one out of the water for fun, they are only making I believe 6-7psi, not a whole lot.
Hence why I bought the Speed3.. much more fun imo..
but I do miss my SC.. god that supercharger.. wwweeeeeeeeeee!! lol.. never got old to me, not once..

great suspension...one of the worst drivetrains i've ever seen. They just slapped a turbo on an n/a engine that was already pretty weak sauce. The stock rods look like dental floss.

^^^ dude, not that I disagree with you, but where did that come from? What does this have to do with a 2.4 SS running a MSP?

Go run the guy and get it on video, then start a new thread and post it. It'll be a good time. We'll all at the stupid hyundai.
