SS/SC vs 2000 M5

Got a chance to run a 2000 BMW M5 this morning from a stop on the way to work. I gave 'er hell until about 120 Km/h and probably had 2 or 3 car lenghts. He was really suprised and rolled the window down at the next intersection to give me props

Hmmm don't 00 M5's run a 13.3. Are you saying you won or lost the race....?
Anyway one thing I've noticed is that owners of european cars and domestic cars are really nice about giving props. It seems the import crowd is bitter about everything..... I saw a Honda with a Hotwheels sticker on it, no joke, a freakin' hotwheel's sticker. I wanted to ask him what it was about but I'd figure he'd take it the wrong way and key my car =\

**** you man, I was at a stop light. We both launched hard. I slllowwwly pulled on him. Basically he must have for some reason gone 3/4 throttle and given me the win? It makes no ******* sense to me, but thats exactly what happened.

I'd say it's a lot more likely that it was a Performance Package 540i. It has the same front bumper and sometimes wheels as the M5 so it wouldn't be hard to throw some M5 badges on and fake people out, but it has ~300hp instead of 394. I could see you putting a few cars on one of those, but I'm pretty sceptical about the M5.

Ahhh.. that would make LOTS of sense... except I just checked on edmunds.com and:

Acceleration (0-60 mph): 5.5 sec

so i still shouldn't have won... I don't get it

I would give this guy a break . Ya know , there are lots of total frikin idiots that buy fast cars with manual transmissions and dont have the slightest clue how to drive them . Hell , the last time I was at the dragstrip , there was a dumba$$ that couldnt get a 04 Z06 vette out of the mid 13's . Thats a low 12 sec car for christ sakes .

Cars just dont automatically run the # , and thats especially true with a manual car and ever more true with these $50K plus cars ALOT of ( but not all of )people buy as status figures . If the driver is to stupid to properly harness the power of his car ....errrr , a race is a race and the unquestionably faster m5 got smoked by a cheby

Too many times I wish I had a "hey dumba$$ , learn how to drive" bumper sticker

sounds like a correct statement there!!! lol

other than the fact of our cars having 60mm less tread to the pavement, and 150~ less hp.. with the extra 1.5 seconds from a 0-60 that the m5 has on us, i would say there's huge room for bmw driver error before we even have a chance....

i wouldn't even say there was ANY outdriving ANYONE if someone lost with an m5 to a cobalt lol.... that just means there was an old lady driving or they weren't racing the beemer to begin with

I suspect the latter, any high powered sedan or car for that matter no matter what it weighs once it gets going all bets are off. Try a E55 Amg and you will see this in action!
