SS/SC Vs EF Hatch

Last night I was headed over to the GFs and a Red EF Hatch (89-91 Civic Hatchback) merged on to the freeway and got next to me... It actually looked pretty decent... Had a real mellow body kit... What I think was a tanabe exhaust... 18" wheels... So we were just driving side by side for about a mile doing 75mph... Finally I just looked over at him and downshifted into 3rd.... He downshifted and off we went... I was REALLY suprised....
All the way to the top of 3rd I couldnt get away from him... we just sat side by side... Then part way through 4th we were still side by side... then he had to shift (I swear he was in the same gear the whole time but he may of shifted once more before then... I was more concerned with what I was doing).... I put about 2 car lengths on him and shut down at 130ish... Then we got side by side again, waved and went our seperate ways as the off ramps were coming up... It was pretty cool... I didnt hear a turbo or sc so he must of had a swap with some bolt ons.... because Ive raced a couple of integras and an SI with just a couple of minor bolts ons and just completely wax'd um...
It was cool... I got really worried in 3rd there for a second because I absolutely could not pull away... Thank goodness for the PsiFi kit !

You race against a heavily modded civic - you still won. Where he's at in power you're at starting at FROM THE FACTORY.

Sounds like a b16 swap. My friends brother has a civic with nothing (no AC, no power steering, nothing) that is light as hell and moves pretty good with that swap. A pull from third left us almost dead even. From 2nd I'd destroy him though.

lol they are easy to underestimate... my friend almost got embarassed in his STi (stock) when he raced a b20 hatch with I/H/E +cams it was side by side from 10 mph up to about 115 then we started pulling.

You have the Psi-fi kit and only dyno'd 211hp@6000rpm 199ftlbs@4900rpm?

I sat in a Psi-Fi Redline saturday and it was really really quick.

Where are you driving? There's a mess of SRT-4's out here... most of them are modded beyond "just a stage 1" tho

Try hitting the Pavillions on Saturday (afternoon/early evening) or hit the Sonic @ 35th & Union Hills around 10:30~11:00pm Saturday night...

Yea, "the place" keeps moving around. Ppl used to meet up @ 19th & Bell (I think ppl still do, just not the same ppl )

I was at the Sonic from about 11:00 'till midnight or so. Lots of different cars driving through and some interesting scenes on the road. I saw a Viper drive by (just cruising) and a whole heard of bumble-bee-fart-can-Honduh's chasing after him... it was funny they were busting ass just to keep up with him and he was practically idling away from the light.

BTW, I found a crack in my intercooler shortly after I took you for a ride... I got the intercooler fixed, and now (without changing any settings) it blows the tires off the car in 3rd... I used to be able to count on 3rd hooking up good. Sat night I raced a 750cc bike (1997 Sportbike of some kind) three times. Twice he got a good launch and I got such a crappy one that he jumped about 5 cars or more in front and stayed there. The one time I got a decent launched, hooked & passed him in 3rd and put around 2 cars on him by 120ish. On the crappiest of launches, I roasted the tires @ 1/2 throttle in 1st & 2nd, hammered it in 3rd thinking it would hook up and it instantly hit the rev limiter w/ tires smokin'. 1/8 mile long burnout... roasting the 245's all the way to ~90mph.

If im driving around im normally east of 32nd street/west of scottsdale rd South of 101/ North of Shea... Unless Im going to the GFs... Then I take SR51 to I10 to I17 south to durango... Ive only seen 3 SRT4s total since I moved out here.... back in Michigan they were a dime a dozen ! So were SVT Focus !

Why does everybody gotta be on the west side.... I hate going west of central... Go to the sonic at 40th & Greenway damn it !

Were the numbers SAE corrected? The SRT-4 club had a dyno day at a local dyno and the numbers were not SAE corrected. With the weather conditions everyone's numbers were considerably lower than normal.

That's just where most ppl hang out. On any Fri/Sat night you'll see a ton of cars cruising up and down Bell rd. from about 19th Ave to about 75th ave.

I dont know... It was a real quick thing... I dropped the car off in the morning.. just handed them the keys... Picked it up on lunch and had a quick discussion about the numbers being so low.... How the AF looked... Then took off.. I was in a hurry and they were pretty busy... So didnt have time to really sit down and talk about much... Also they shut it down at 6k not 6500... Next time I go back after I get the supercharger ported and get a header on it (If the TOG stuff is done sometime soon) ... I will be there for the runs and ask more questions...

That's all that needs to be said...

BTW, where did you take it?

There's only two places in town that I'll go to. Arizona Dyno Chip (near I-17 & Ray Rd) Mental Addiction (near Broadway & Country Club). Kieth @ Az Dyno Chip really knows how to tune cars, a very bright guy, highly recommended.
