SS/TC stage kit vs. 6.0 GTO
I know plenty of people have raced these, but I still am too excited and have to post...
Driving back into work tonight I pull past very clean looking 6.0L GTO. I slowed down a little bit more to check out his car than to race or anything but as soon as he saw me looking he gunned it. I shifted to 3rd and kicked right back, tryin' to chase him down. He slows up and I see that there are 2 cars in front of us on a 4 lane highway and then nobody down the road, so I pull next to him, then give it a little to get past the cars in front. We slow down, give each other a thumbs up, and then race from about a 40 up to about 120. His car sounded sexy, very loud so I don't really know what he's done to it, but we were door to door up to about 100mph, at which point he started to pull on me just a little bit. By the time he shut it down at 120mph my front bumper was at his rear bumper, but I was still pretty stoked to have raced a GTO. Not sure what his mods are, because we slowed down and I pointed out that I had to exit, so I thought he was going to too, but he looked like he was heading for the next exit.
So, my car with a good driver (apparently not me) should be running low 13s. I ran a 13.7 last time at the track with a 2.3 60' time. Roll racing takes out my inability to launch, so any guesses on if he was modded, etc?

OOOH which GTO was this I see so many of them in the area. Theres a couple yellow ones a black one and a orange one that I see all the time. They have little meets at teakwoods lol

Couldn't tell you much more than it was a dark blue GTO, and the guy driving had a goatee, looked to be in his mid to late 20's. Sorry, wish I was more help.

^ it was probably dang near stock, a header and tune GTO would pull alot more then just a car at a 100 on a 280 whp balt. When I was stock I put two cars on a almost 280 whp balt...
An intake and exhaust does nothing for these cars either, some have actually been know to lose a few hp with out a tune. But then again it is all speculation with out talking to the owner.
Good run OP, I am curious what the stage 2 kit will do.

i dont think that the guy you raced had much on that gto. my brother has a 6.0 that he just put headers intake catless pipes a new cam and injecters and it would for sure blow a ss away. i love the ss but i just dont think it stands much of a chance against such a big engine alone

Story sounds about right. I have a 6.0 w/ headers, exhaust, cai and I raced a member on here multiple times from a roll. He has ss/tc putting down 305 whp and 354 wtq i believe, and it was neck and neck until about 90 and I began to pull about a car.

The only Cobalt that could ever keep up with my GTO was Pookie's TC running 26+ psi with full bolt ons. A simple tuned one would get raped standing still. Idk where you guys always find these **** poor drivers.

But, if he was an LS1 and close to stock, the race sounds about right on the money.
If you could get your 60' down to 1.9x you'd see 13.2.

I am around 117
I just cant seem to figure out where my best shift spot is or have the ***** to launch at 6k.
I have spooled 9" but on a stock drive shaft
