SS/TC vs challenger

yesterday coming home from work i saw a new challenger turn on the road in my rear view. He was going below the speed limit so i slowed up for him to catch up. he gets along side of me and i give it a short pull to let him know i mean business. at 1st he doesnt seem interested. but then i caught a light next to a mini van and he violently change lanes and got right on my bumper and revved.

at this point i knew it was on. light turned green and i just paced the mini van in 1st. threw second still pacing the van with him on my ass. I get up to about 40 mph in 2nd and change lanes to let him next to me. he floors it and gets right next to me. maybe 1/2 a car in front. as soon as i saw his nose pass i go wot and put like a car on him all the way to the top of third.

dont know what model it was but sounded beefy as hell.

afterwards the guy gave the thumbs up and we went on our separate ways.

mods are byt tune, catted dp, charge pipe

Good kill.

So, did he line up with you and you went WOT or did he just go WOT from behind you and you waited until he started to pass you to go WOT?

it all depends on the model. Mine R/T runs the quarter in 13.8 @ 103. Doubt it was an SRT, they are in the 12s

Im not here to get into a pissing match about what car is faster and what tune and whatever. Just stating my opinion. We dont know what kind of car it was or what was done to it or how fast the OP's car is. It also would depend on if it was manual or auto, how good the other driver was, how good the OP is as a driver. There are too many variables.

Yeah thats true because I raced a srt8 challenger on the freeway once and we went from a 60 to about 110 and I had him by a car. Him having a Byt tune makes me think it must have been a srt8

I've never read a time for an SRT8 in the 12's normally 13.1-13.4 (never saw one at a track)

Raced a new challenger on the highway last year, had at least 2 lengths on him all the way up to 150 mph. then of course his governor kicked in and it was over. But, he flipped me off after I slowed down. Good times. BTW, Im stock

look, i'm not trying to diss anyone or rain on this guys parade, BUT i think people just want it to be an SRT8 so that the kill is that much "sweeter"....that's it...there's A LOT more R/Ts on the road than the srt8s....chances are, it was an R/T....just sayin....regardless of the tune...

just my $0.02!

Love how you guys compared E.T.'s to a roll race. Man that's funny. I've seen stage 2 Cobalt S/C's pull a SRT-8 Challenger from a roll. I think a tuned LNF could definitely stop a hit and pull back by 130.

who said i was here to get into a pissing match? you stated SRT8's are 12 second cars and i simply pointed out a well tuned TC is also a 12 second car. Thats by no means a pissing match there sir.

Good kill bro!

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but couldn't it have easily just have been the v6 version? So maybe we shouldn't be jumping to conclusions assuming it was a srt8 or even the r/t. That's just like how civics, lancers, etc say they can stomp on ss/tc's but they really only raced a ss/na or even a ls/lt with a bodykit or ss front fascia/ high rise wing. I'm not trying to argue with anyone, just some fuel for thought.

nooo... OP's car would have to be in limp mode... You really don't know how slow the V6 challengers are do you? The V6's have 250hp, that's less then a LNF Cobalt stock in a car that weighs roughly 1,200lbs more.

i have owned many v8s in my day there was no way it was a 6 cylinder. If it helps, i ran a modded acura last night that has gone 13.8 at the track. we went from a 40 roll, i immediatly put about 2 cars on him. i could have put more but held back...didnt want to make it that bad, was trying to get him to go for money after.

My byt tune kicks ass lol
