Thumbs up SS/ZFR vs M5

So my car has been having cold rpm knock issues...As soon as i got home. Torn into and found a good amount of problem i fixed... Want more about that go to my thread.

I take her out for a Spin and EVERYTHING is better. My buddy calls me and says its nice out people are out playing are you in. I was like Of course i need to test her out anyway.

We head out to this one spot... and no one is there... We all get out of the cars... Talk crap and two M5's roll up. my buddy know them because they are all on the BMW forums. Pretty Cool guys. the one kid looks at my balt {in all its glory} and goes i remember my balt days super or n/a. I go neither Turbo. Of course they look at me like im crazy and go with i didnt know they came turbo blah blah. So at some point after shooting the **** we realize no one is coming out...

So the one kid goes you wanna race this M5 from a 40? Im like i would rather 60 but sure thats cool...(because Boost Ramp). So i follow them to the highway we line up Honk it off.. and he starts pulling... Damn turbo lag...I actually started to catch up but Alas. first Run i lost.

We line up again 40 roll this time im ready for the Lag, Honk it off. and as soon as the ZFR kicks in. Im gone beat him by at least a car and half.

The last run is the 60 roll. Its hard to say who one this one cuz traffic was coming up fast.

But we honk it off and the zfr opens up the black hole it does and I think i beat him By at least a half car before we shut down due to traffic. Seems like i was pulling him up top for whatever reason.

SideNote. This was the 1998-2003 M5 I wanna say, he had some work done.. not sure what i'll confirm later.

I also raced my buddies super stupid fast 335i on the way home. I kept up a bit.. but once i got to forth he was gone...

My tune is pretty conservative now because of my issues... So hopefully i'll get to run them again at full potential!

Good runs man. Not surprised the tc is still not known.

With the years you're guessing the m5 would have a 5.0 v8. E39 is easily one of the best looking m5's.

Interested in the mods of the 335i

Thanks Man!

My Buddy has a 08 335i with the twin turbo. Bolt tuned. Running Meth. Automatic. He does like 11's at the track constantly.

Brake boosting is your friend. Waiting for your turbo to spool is your own fault

To Be perfectly Honest, I completely SUCK at brake boosting..Or maybe im not doing it Right... No clue im not going to claim I do... Just something about hitting brakes and the gas at the same time just feels wrong to me.

You are just holding the brake to keep the car at a constant speed while getting the engine loaded. You'll have to apply the brakes more as boost is built. Then on the 3rd honk remove foot from brake and hold on.

brake boosting with a zfr sounds almost as useless as k04 to me. I dont have one but isnt it supposed to be near stock spool? tire spin SHOULD be the only issue ha. in this case sounds like the tune may be just THAT conservative though. which your tranny thanks you for im sure

re-tune and video of bimmer smashing GO!

Those M5's move. Tried to race one from a light for fun and he pulled a couple cars quick on my stock LNF.

You should have no lag from a 40 in 2nd with a ZFR. It should be near instant. Hell even my s259et doesn't really have much lag at all from 40 in 2nd. Good runs though.

I wouldn't call them turds but they do have a lot more to give. All cars have conservative stock tunes.

I've given a couple of cars a run for their money. Took a 12.7 fox body from a 40 pull and a 04-05 STi from the same.
