Thumbs up SSTC vs JETTA 1.8T

Raced my friends buddys 1.8t with intake and cat-back, first legit race w the ss

I knew i wld take him but dam!

4 runs at 40 obv 2nd..
-all 4 runs were a joke, instantly pulled busses

He said he needs to pull from 2nd, your not in 2nd already? Lol

So we do 2 pulls from from 30 so he can get 2nd in
-once again.. busses

Hey i kno their no sti or evo but dam! I thought they were quicker than that!

Which speaking of evo, a 2009-10 evo wants to run me, not sure what he has done, sounds stock. Anyone run one? Obv wldnt do a dig..

So ya i thought i would share my first legit war story with you guys and gals

Not surprising.... I drove a 1.8t GTI once. Decent torque for what it is (though no SS/TC) but no top end. It really fell off.

What type of mods does he have on his 1.8T. i raced a stock SS/TC with my now 1.8T GLI and beat him buy 1 cars. All I have is a stock turbo, SRI, FMIC, Bigger EXHAUST manifold, 3" turboback, N75 upgrade, Audi TT225 386cc injectors, PowerGasket+, Revo stage 2 tune. Only 1 cars though for a stock SS/TC. I'm no VW fan, I actually hate my car. I wish I had Ron Burgandy still.

Intake & Catback, no tune? OH dear no wonder it was bus lengths. The 1.8T stock only makes 150HP, with his mods to the wheels he's probably making 165whp. Also, 1.8T's and lets say my car a GLI, the 1.8T engines both have different size turbos. The 1.8T you raced has a K03(22lb wheel) while I have a K03sport which is a little bigger closer to a k04 size(24lb wheel). The Cobalt SS/TC has stock a k04(36lb wheel) that is a huge difference and your a 2.0L. That plays a good part. What the heel was he thinking racing you and thinking it would be fair? *******!

As for the Evo, Do you have a Tune? If you do not with your tunes and guessing that he is stock I would guess he would still get you but not by much. Careful though an Evo with a good tune and just Stock turbo can put down on a dyno 350 easy to the wheels. From a dig, hell no!! Now if you were tune with lets say trifecta and some more bolt-ons with a 2 car start in front of the evo then I would go for it from a dig. Why not, just for fun. When I had my SS/TC I raced a Evo 9(heavely modified stock turbo) from a dig, lineup no head start. he jumped on me good but by the end we were neck and neck.

HAHA, same thing I used to get on cruises that I would go on. I loved it cause people would think I was SC so slow and then i'd give them a raping. It happens.

Careful with the Evo though. If he's a good driver and his cars setup well for stock turbo get ready to be beat. There is a guy here in Hawaii who prides himself for being a stock turbo EVO 9 and beating 800hp SUpra's from a dig. I seen him race myself and it was pretty amazing feat. He is an UNGODLY good driver. his shifting is amazing.

I've seen 1.8T pitted against a Stock Civic 8th Gen(K20) and the civic beat it by about 2 1/2 cars. Ya, VW I hate the things. Constant maint, one after another part. Expensive as hell to for min gains.

Yea but a Jetta is a girl's car here in Southern Cal. The only guys I see driving them have rainbow stickers on the back window. The GTI is pretty sweet though with some work. I would roll in one of those. The girls don't care about speed they just want a cute car. And a Jetta or a turbo beetle is a cute little thing.... awwwww

1.8T suck ***** and I have one for now a GLI. Funny thing about someone mentioning that GLI is a girls car. I have gotten more comments with the GLI then what I ever did with my SS/TC. I call it my POS cause that is what it is, yet people like it.

theyre really nice cars, but they have a K03 turbo, so its not gonna push as much air.... They are torquey because of the turbo size though, they have NO lag.

A K04'd VW would be more of a fair fight.

It depends, usually the most some people will get out of a k04 is 240-50whp. That is close to where a stock SS/TC dyno's. I beat one stock from a dig and I'm rocking the k03s. pushing it hard though.

I have a 1.8T GTI.

6 spd manual.

the K03 is known to go out too.

Honestly IMO. the only VW worthy of racing is a turboed VR6. or the R32. espeically turboed R32.

but the 1.8T is not made for it.

Mine is sitting on coilovers and and a neuspeed sway bar. and it handles like a dreammm. And I have my eyes set out for a K04 from the Audi and straight swap. and retune.

I do enjoy the lil car. But its not made for speed. made for stance, handling, or just a DD.

Why I want my Sound system....and a train horn.

Wouldn't really call that worthy of racing lol. Simple bolt on tvs car simply walking it like it's driving normal. R32's really aren't that great either considering how much they cost. I could get an evo or sti and turbo swap/rape for the cost of an r32. IDK vw's are nice cruise cars not anything special, that's what audi's for lol.
