Stock 370z vs. mod/tuned SS/TC
Ok first i want to say im against street racing so this was the only time this was going to happen...only happend cuz i just bought my 370z today and wanted to see what it could do. So i gave my buddy a call that has a intake, exhaust and a tune on his ss/tc. Decided to see what the 370z touring 6 speed can do since i just got it today. So we hit the highway and this is how it went.
First run = I had my VDC (vehical driving control) on which is like traction control...lowers the power to the wheels to help get traction and control the car. So it was from a 5kmh role...3 honks the SS/TC right away got 1/2-1 car length ahead of me and stayed that way the whole time...still getting use to the clutch/shifter so i was abit slow at shifting. By the time my friend hit 3/4 or so of 3rd gear i shifted in 4th at 7000rpm so i had to also had to shift more then he did...I was pretty happy with that.
Later on i found out in the manual what the VDC is and turned it off...so we hit the highway again.
2nd run = 20kmh roll. I pulled 1 car ahead of him and stayed there the hole time until we stopped.
3 run = dead stop...still getting use to the clutch i was abit slow on the launch and spun my tires so he got a good jump on me but i caught up...finished 1/2 car behind him.
So overall im pretty happy what the car can do stock. Its 332hp to the crank so around 270~whp...his SS/TC is around or above that. I give big props to those that have mod/tuned SS/TC...fast ******* cars compared to a mod/tuned SS/SC which i use to have with the TVS.
I'm already looking at dual intakes, HFC, exhaust and a light weight underdrive pulley...ill probably get those parts when i get back from doing security with the army for the olympics in march. But yea like i said, i dont agree with street racing but i wanted to see what the car could do and i didnt want to wait until the next track day...so flame me if u must..lol. Heres a pic of what my car looks like...

I would have thought a tuned and I/E TC would have walked away from ya. What times are the new 370's putting down? Low 13's at 107ish? aren't tuned TC's 300+ and equal or lighter weight?
No offense but IMO they sure didn't go in the right direction style wise compares to the old ones. My old roomate and uncle both have 350's in silver and they look good, this looks a little bloated. Then again maybe it is the angle you are shooting it at?
Congrats on the new car though, I have heard some good things about them. Are they about equal to the later year 350's with the VQ motor acceleration wise?
Street racing with another buddy in a safe area and good conditions is one thing and is perfectly fine, its blocking off the road and racing in traffic that is dumb.
Do they still have track packs with the big brakes on them? I see yours are a little small compared to my uncles, his are huge for such a little car. They are gold brembo's if that means anything, he told me it is a track pack I think?

The 370's dont have brembo brakes...for some reason nissan decided to change that from the 350 to 370. 370 is i think 1" wider and 2" shorter then the 350...weight is lower too because of the way they made the doors, hood and truck. Here is what my car looks like from the front. So i think it is just the camera in the other pictures...
Fastest time slip i have seen from a 370z stock...full tank and no weight reduction was 13.36@108mph. People are saying with a good driving it can get into high 12's...i think thats possible with a good driver + weight reduction. I'll be heading to the track tomorrow night and see what she can run...im still trying to get use to everything though so iiunno...i predict high 13's by the end of the night.

if the "exhaust" on the TC is just a cat back its not a performance mod. With a aggressive tune the TC can be at 330whp with a intake or more. So I am going to assume its a conservative tune or a tune from a "Can" which would be fairly poor tune to get the full potential.
Anyway congrats on the 370. The back looks weird...I think I like the 350 back end more but the front of the 370 more. Well keep us updated on your mods!

I cant remember what his exhaust mod is. I know its a trifica tune so its not showing its full potentional...either way his car kicks everyones ass that has cobalts. I raced him a few times with my tvs...was still messing around with the tune so i wasnt seeing my max power. And i have little track time so he has more practice then me...kicked my ass every time..lol.
I just made a appointment to get my windows tinted and im emailing a few vendors that sell the injen intakes for the 370z and seeing how much i can get it for. Vendors claim 15~hp increase but from what guys are dynoing they r only getting 7-11~ hp increase...thats on different dynos as well so oh well..brings the sound alive abit. Then next spring/summer ill get header, high flow cat and exhaust. After i do a tour in afghanistan and come back im twin turboing it...also that will be when the warrenty is done.

to much...lol. $55,000 on a 96 month finance. I put it to 96 months for a reason...i like to stretch the payments out so they r smaller if for some reason i run short on money. But i always make extra payments and pay things like that off sooner then the actual time line...as long as there is no extra fee for doing so. Also they gave me $15,000 for the cobalt but i still owed $20,000 on it..so that extra $5,000 went on the total price of the Z. So really the Z cost $50,000 cdn

but yea...both me and my buddy with the sstc r going to be going to the track tomorrow so we will see what it has on there. Really sucks though cuz i cant lower my tire psi cuz i have nitrogen in the tires and i dont feel like paying for new nitrogen.

So like, can you just not live without a 370z because there are at least 3 other cars out there from the top of my head that are 100% faster, better in every way then a 370z... and their all American and right at or under $50,000 brand new 2009/2010 models.
2010 SS Camaro
2010 Mustang GT
2009 Corvette C6 (ls3 < BEAST OF A MOTOR, add $3,000 worth of mods and you will beat 95% of the cars out there)
2010 GT500
