I believe the fastest car at my school was a t/a with a built 408. It is now making about mid 800 hp at the rear wheels.

A sophomore would just have turned old enough to work so I am not believing you paid for your car.

1. you haven't been able to work long enough to save money for a car
2. you're not old enough to get a loan
3. you wouldn't have enough time to work enough to pay for a car.

Well, it's possible. I knew a guy that I worked with at my old job he started cutting lawns when he was in the 4th grade. As soon as he could get his license he did and got a small truck and just saved. When he was a Junior almost a senior he bought a new 07 Silverado fully loaded.

 

I did side jobs well before I was 16 too (cut lawns, painted address's on curbs, and scored basketball games), but it sure as hell wasn't enough to buy a car.

reminds me of the time some high schoolers in an integra gsr with intake and exhaust thought that they were going to eat my '02 z24 which had cams, balance shafts removed, intake, full exhaust, crank pulley, centerforce clutch and light flywheel.. they just thought I had intake/exhuast...my cavi was fast for what it was..even after I pulled hard on them they still did a ricer flyby, lol

 

He could do it my dad owned his own business and I worked there in the summer and brought home3,500-4,000 a summer. Thats only the summer not including the money I made the rest of the year, I know when I was 16 I had about 20k in the bank.

Anyone can make the money in high school, I started working as soon as i got my license.
Everyday after school from 3 to 10pm
9am till 7pm on weekends
I bought a 98' cavalier which i paid off and ran full coverage on. About two years ago i got hit by a Dodge Ram on my drivers side totaling the car. Since i had full coverage, for some reason they saw fit to pay me $3,800 for the totaling out of it. Then ironically i went and bought a 99' Dodge Ram 1500 extended cab for that which had a messed up front end from plowing. So i worked on it for about 2 months and got rides to work; Once i fixed it i turned around and sold it for $8,500. Then I took what money i got from that and spent $5,000 on a 99' Pontiac Grand Am GT; which would up having an intake manifold leak problem which basically turned my engine to "soup". So i pulled the motor and bought a new one for $1,800 put it in 200 miles down the road it does the same thing. So i brought the car to where i got the engine from and they went good on it and put the upgraded gasket on it. I sold the Grand Am GT for $4,800 with only 56k on the engine that went in. And the money i had left i put as m down payment for my cobalt with my parents as the co-signers.
