they run a 13.5 or better stock some people test those things out at 13.4 with his mods i bet he can run a 13.1 maybe even cut a 13.0, i cant beat modded mach 1's like LIGHTLY modded as in catback and i have stage 2, airbox mod , zzp header , 3 in downpipe w hi flow cat , they pull when we both get into 3rd

yeah, if it is a '98+ WS6, I would stay away with your current mods, even with GM stage 2 I would doubt you could take him.

What year is the TA? Although GM rated the '98 to '02 models the same, actual power did increase slightly over the years with '01 and '02 being the strongest - different cams, ECU tuning, with some even receiving the LS6 block (not the heads though) as production approached the end. I had a '98 WS6 6-speed that ran 13.5 at 105 bone stock. A buddy's stock '02 Camaro SS has run a best of 13.0 at 109 stock. Another friend with a '02 WS6 TA ran 13.2 at 108 stock - that one is a LOT faster now though *L*.

As well those mods you listed for the TA will do very little, if anything, for power - the cutout is mostly for sound and the K&N maybe a couple ponies. So expect it to run stock times as a ball park guess.

Good luck and have fun !

That T/A is gonna wax. Get an Intense stage 5 and you will pull him. Personally I think tuning w/ your current mods is a waste of money. Get a few more mods then tune. Have fun running him.

There is a T/A WS6 out my way that I messed with a little, an I didn't have a chance. He had quite a bit of work done from what I gather though. He had his windows tinted so I couldn't see all too well, but def had exhaust, and like 3 or more gauges.

All I can say is, don't get too caught on tryin to beat this one dude and have your car tuned way too lean. Just go out, hook up and see what happens. It's all about makin new friends and having a good time. As well as getting the Cobalts name out there, and in a positive manner. On the other hand, I know a guy that has a 98 Camaro Z28 with SLP Loudmouth and intake and I know I would give him a run for his money. It's all in the driver too. Good luck an be safe

well I have a 01 camaro ss... so same damn thing just slightly lighter then the ws6 (the trans ams weigh a little more) and i will walk all over a stage 2 car... I have, read the "allshot down" thread that I posted yesterday. dont under estimate the power of a strong ls1. By the way, with a good launch my stock ls1 will hit the 12's. and look at my sig for the dyno numbers. also the guy at the shop states his dynojet runs a little low but my numbers were better then average so I am not so sure about that one.

Hey hey, not sure who you're gettin all defensive towards, but first off..I'm pushin a bit more then just the stage 2, secondly..I was talkin about a 98 Z28 driven by a dude that smashes the gas and hopes for the best. He does the quarter mile in the mid to high 13's..

Anywayz..All I was doing was tryin to show another light on this so everyone isn't just bashing the poor guy about his question.

tell him to give you five and the move from a dig and you should beat him. but LS1's are all that I work on for the most part and it is a very strong motor and makes good numbers. I don't even think from a roll Im not sure if you would be able to keep up with him

I have had them all Lt1's LS1's and LS2's.

I raced my stock SS/SC against my 2002 Camaro SS, the SS/SC lost by bus lengths from a dig or roll.

With Stage 2 from a dig it was a difference of about 6-7 cars from a 40mph roll about 5-6 cars.

Too many people here have no real idea what LS1's and LS2's can do in stock form. They assume the SS/SC will pull harder at high RPM or MPH not realizing that the LSX pulls just as hard at 6000RPM as it does at 2000rpm.

Even a Stage 5 will have problems from a dig with a stock LS1 or LS2. From a roll it might be close but the LS1/LS2 will pull all the way to the speed limiter if it has one. If it doesn't there lookint at 170mph plus top speed.

too true, but hell I look forward to getting my ass handed to me by one of your cobalts. You guys have some fast cars worth a lot of respect. Win or lose life is good when you are with cool people.
