Just thought I'd put a little perspective on it since this happened to be a ss/sc that did it.

I fear that there are many kids/Ya'll doing this out there.....but yall are cool so its all okay...not...keep it on the closed track guys...You have no idea what its like to go through a severe motor crash, especially when your the victim...it does not end after impact.. the physical and emotional scarring is always there...I have been there, its far from fun.....
drive safe.
drive safe.
the victims were old and going to die soon anyway...
Yes, that was a terrible joke. This is why dumb people shouldnt be allowed to drive. I wouldnt be surprised if this kid had a bad driving record and all of this could have been avoided by taking his license sooner.
Stupid kid. Such a waste of life.

there is a difference between ORGANIZED street racing and getting out on the highway or light to light
I don't race on the highway or light to light, not saying I won't do a run on the highway if there is PLENTY of room but its rare and never "planned"...
now as far as racing in a set location out where there is NO traffic, like for example an industrial park on a Saturday night, I don't see a problem with it...
and if they'd STOP closing drag strips because of noise ordinances, etc. they would probably help cut down on that, I know we've had 3 drag strips shut down within 100 miles of me in the last 2 years because of new "regulations"
its like law makers want to get out and preach to the choir about stopping street racing, then pass sanctions against drag strips making it hard for them to operate.... amazing how that works
now our "location"... well 1st off, the police know about it, why? people have been racing there for the last 25 years most of the cops here grew up racing out there... its all cotton fields, both sides of the road... 7 miles long(straight), NO access roads... just a lot of flat farm land... one person has been killed there in the last 25 years, and the moron had already won the race through the 1/4, decided to I guess try to "top his car out" and ended up losing control at about 135+ WAY on down the road... now, we have had minor little accidents, someone getting sideways off the line, etc. but nothing major... but as I said, even the cops don't mess with us, they'd MUCH rather us be out there racing than in town, and who can blame them
so IMO:
racing in town or around INNOCENT motorist=bad
"organized" street racing on abandoned roads=/=bad... I mean if an "innocent" car was to come up on us, we could see them coming WAY down the road

yes endangering HUNDREDS of lives at 2:30 in the morning on a deserted road, my god the humanity...
as I stated racing in PUBLIC, I have a problem with that, I don't do that.... and if we had a drag strip open Friday or Saturday, this would NOT be a problem here... we had one for years, they had a Midnight Madness street race EVERY Friday and Saturday, guess what, the spot we now race at: was deserted back then... no one went... why would you? you could pay $10, race from 8:00p.m. until 3 in the morning, with a prepped track... they made a killing doing it....
then the new subdivision went in next to the track, the developer was on the city council, sanctions were passed on the track where it couldn't operate after 11:00p.m., midnight madness was dead... that wasn't enough, they then passed sanctions that mufflers HAD to be ran on the track at all times due to noise, even during the day... that cause ORSCA to cancel their races with the track along with all other big races.. track couldn't stay open just doing "test and tunes" with street cars... track closes
our spot now has anywhere from 50-75 cars a weekend(during the summer), the city caused that
people are going to race, so long as there are cars, people are going to make them faster and people are going to want to be better at it than the next guy... that is human nature
we can do it the legal or ILLEGAL way, our city decided they want us to do it the illegal way apparently
that kid did not have our thought process, that kid was doing 130mph with TRAFFIC around unaware of his surroundings... hence organized street racing with spotters and flaggers vs. unorganized spur of the moment street racing

street racing is stupid but this is still a kid........... life in prison because of him killing someone buy a very stupid mistake is cruel buddy. Imagine if he was your son would you say the samething. If this crashed woulda happened at 75mph and he only ran the intersection it would have had the same outcome, but we wouldnt be seeing this posted on these forums
sidenot:im glad i drive a cobalt these things seem to be really safe in extremly bad crashes
