Well the race with my GLI has concluded, I will let him tell the story. We did from a dead stop and 3 rolls. And one from a honk. (He got to honk (-= )

Dude is a stand up guy, I think he knows a bit more about his car now. I may lend a hand in helping him make it catch up with his expectations, if he needs it.

I thought it might have been. I drove up there one saturday in june, if it weren't so busy that'd be a lot of fun! I hear the cops are plentiful on the road, is that true? Too much traffic to really tell when i went. It was pretty cool to drove up 20 miles and be in a cool, pine forest from 180deg Tucson. (i'm in phoenix).

I have not seen a cop up there yet, but I drive it at odd times. My buddy on his GSXR 750 cant keep up with my cobalt through the twisties

I saw at least a sheriff and some forest service "law enforcement" trucks up there on that saturday. I'm sure odd times help. When we were coming down we saw a bike that had just spilled. He looked pretty bad. That freaks me out every time I see it. Otherwise I'd love to have one

AND I saw a ton of road bicycles going up that mountain all the way. I'd consider myself pretty avid, and that's crazy tall!!!! Big props for them to make it up that!!

Well its 10:10. Here is what happened:

From a stop, the GLI's tires spun to 30, and I shut down at 60 a few cars ahead. I was not paying much attention to how far ahead I was, but the point was put across.

Every time from a roll I waited to hear his engine. Surprisingly it did not sound too bad. The GLI would stay by his side through initial spool, and pull away effortlessly, some points by 70, 4-8 cars ahead.

From the honk, he got to honk, I got to go. On his 3rd honk we went, and the GLI pulled away after initial spool again. At one point He stayed beside me for half a second, then I realized that I was not in the right gear, and downshifted on my paddle shifter. Resulted in the GLI pulling away again.

Overall I will say his balt is faster than the rental piece of crap I had. It has potential to meet his needs, and puts up a better fight than the average riced out civic.

Okay sorry it took so long to post guys, had to eat dinner with my lady and stuff....

So here's what happened, as drew said before....

From a dig, was hands down the gli... Drew got me good, passed me by about 3-4 cars and than braked to let me catch up... Than we got stuck behind two cars and I went around the one on the left thinking it was a three lane road and than noticed I was in the turning yellow lane and felt like a moron lol...

From a second role I slowed down real quick cause I noticed a sign that indicated there was speed trap cameras ahead...I thought he was going to get his picture taken and I was like oh damn that sucks cause we were doing a good amount of speed...but he didn't....that was the 4-8 car lentghs...

From our second roll like he said I kept up for the initial accelleration , a second or two and than bam easy 2 car lengths on me and than we stoped and said our goodbyes...overall it was a pleasent experience, have never done that before...

The prev gli I raced did not sound the way drews car did... and it was hatchback, may have been different...

Lesson: Cobalt is not a gli nor faster lol... and I think force is right....In my head I psyche my car up lol...It's fast for a 2.2 I think.... But no gli lol... not even close haha...

And drew I'd like to take you up on that offer man... Id like to get a 2.4 mani on my car, a new downpipe and exhaust system and than a tune... I want to s/c my car but I'll have to save up for that but I'd appreciate it, if you could lead me in the right direction...

I never saw a speed camera sign. But I am glad my picture didn't get taken. (Maybe I turned around before we got to the camera.

No the speed camera was on our second launch... I was crossin my fingers for ya man lol but you didnt get your picture taken, so its cool....It was around that big curve... Oh well, still handled my lt hands down haha....

Haha, nice reality check.The thing to consider though is you see how bad the GLI beat you and it's one of the slower FI 4 cyl's. I'm sure if you asked him he would tell you his TC is a monster in comparison.

yeah my TC can pull a bus or two on the GLI. The GLI is fast enough for my wife though, (Thats who I got it for.) The school girl plaid seats just aren't for me.

hmmm. well if you can beat a GLI taht means you can beat an SS/SC. And that is not going to happen. Top gear or not. The GLI is hard to keep up with even in my SS/SC. So i do not think this si possible. Even if you have the SS/NA

the ss/sc is faster than a gli, and gti, i raced a bunch of them...there isnt a huge difference tho
