I'm not trying to be "self-righteous" by any means... Your argument is just on overgeneralization and is illogical.
First, there ARE people who just don't do things that will legitimately get them thrown in jail. Maybe not many, but they exist.
Second, even if they HAVE done things, maybe even unknowingly, that could get them thrown in jail, there is a BIG difference between :
1. accidentally taking a little too much cough syrup and
2. Drinking a few beers and then racing a motorcycle to 150mph
One is done unknowingly, or is AT WORST, marginally negligent. The other is something that you know is stupid and illegal the WHOLE TIME YOU'RE DOING IT.
Seriously, I can't even believe you'd compare cough syrup to drinking and then racing up to 150mph.
kinda like the sympathy i have for DUI's that go to jail for long enough and get fined heavy enough that their life is pretty much ruined. after hearing enough stories like yours, it goes down and it gets easier and easier to chastise rather than emphathise
I agree i probably shouldn't have drank and drove at all. but also being in my 30's I have been drinking for years and think i know my limits, and think i would have passed the breathelizer if pulled over. Also if anyone know the area where i live......it is in the middle of nowhere....... That being sad i should have left it at the track but didn't
easy for you to say. the 2-3 beers i had were aslo chasing down a 1/2 lb burger and a basket of fries and took over 1 1/2 hrs from the time i ordered my food until i was done.

Given the circumstances, would anything bad happen? PROBABLY not... but the risks still greatly outweigh the "benefits."
same here man. it's friday, the day is dragging, AND I have a MUTA-5 drill weekend this weekend (drill Friday, Saturday and Sunday instead of just Sat. and Sun). So right after work (i work at the base I drill at) I get to stay here...lol. I'm just feeling giddy as hell and all I wanna do is goof off.
10 years at 12 hours a day of babysitting risk takers that lost and knowing in detail from their personal files is where I get my 'generalizations' from. It's all good though.
Everytime someone is conscious they are taking a risk
