Well, I just ate my first GTI since modding

I've had a few rolls on the highway before with a couple of other cars in the past when I was stock, but since getting the ZZP tune, DP, exhaust, intake, rear sway bar, and new rubber all around, I haven't ran anything, mainly because I don't look for trouble unless it comes knocking.

So, I slow down to a red light, and I can see blue headlights behind me and I could tell it was a Golf. He was weaving in and out of cars slowing down to come to the red and he gets behind a truck to my left. Light turns green and I drive normal and he swings out just in time for us to get the next red. I hear, "puuuussssyyyyy". I don't turn my head. "Yoo!". So I turn my head, and the passenger in the GTI (now that I can see what car it is) says to me as he exhales his e-cig vape bullshit, "Yo man, don't even waste your time". I laugh, turn my head straight and wait for the green to light up. Green light.

I immediately pull a half car length in front of him despite on-and-off wheel spin in first, grab second, pull 2-3.5 car lengths when full boost hits, screech tires in the top end and bang into third...blue specs in my side view easily 6-7 lengths behind. I throw my right turn signal on to make the next turn to go home and just chuckle to myself at those words, "don't waste your time". The GTI definitely had work done to it, but I have no clue as to what, as it was a quick little thing. I didn't waste my time, butt-hurt GTI passenger, but you took a lot more time than I did to go from light-to-light.

Feels good.

Good kill. I love it when people think our cars have no chance. They just find out the hard way when their car is in our rear view mirror

It was an MKV. Yeah, people should never under estimate ANYTHING.

OP I think you misunderstood him. You took it as
"don't waste your time, because this thing will smoke you", when he was actually saying
"hey man I know that turbo cobalt is fast and this little ole GTI doesn't have **** on you, so just don't waste your time"

See the difference, lol But nice kill op

ya i'm sure that's what the passenger meant when he yelled "puuussssy" before that too.. unless there is some undetectable sarcasm there..

good call tho! that could very well have been the case! ya never know!

Good kill i guess op. Although beating a car that already has 60+ less hp then you stock and then you modded and tuned doesnt really seem like an acomplishment.

Ya im not to sure i believe op. Usually people give some kind of example about how something is modded (does the car sound louder? Maybe exhaust or downpipes).
But regardless OP beat a car much slower then his to begin with so congrats?

There was a regular cab short box dodge ram with the 5.7 hemi with intake and exhaust ( and I think he said tune ) cant say for sure though, and he ran a 14.9 at like 92mph I belive. I was surprised, not bad, cause it can tow 5k pounds to without a problem also haha.

ya reg cab shorty box would shed some weight but still nowhere near even a GMS1 TC with a half decent driver. hell if i asked for a 40 roll he'd be a distant memory only trapping 92mph..

Morale of the story is the only quick truck in that line up is the SRT-10. But not too many want to drop 60k on a truck they don't want to get dirty. I know I wouldn't, that thing is purty! Now a tuned F150 ecoboost or Lightning, that's a different story.

i dunno i thought the SRT10 ram was cool when it came out. the short box manual SRT's are still decently quick if you can get them to hook up. low 13's iirc.

Traction was always a pain in the ass even after all the suspension upgrades and some nice rubber just to light in the rear and spending money on a full hybrid set-up....No thanks. Trust me I love there concept and I love MOPAR reason I still have my SRT but there is a very good reason why those trucks weren't made very long

I just love how the SRT 10 Rams even slightly used can be had for 20k, atleast around here anyway. There was a black one at one dealer with 30k on it for $21 and a red one at another with 55k for $18 at another.

Nice kill OP, though kinds are always the best.

probably has something to do with gas prices.. haha we are paying almost $5.70 a gallon here.. makes me glad i didn't sell my balt and go for that charger srt8 yet. i wouldn't be able to afford to drive it..
