what are my chances?
if it was an auto and you were really good at shifting, i'd say driver's race. if he knows how to shift his 5speed and launch his car though, he's going to get you by a few lengths. you should definitely have him from a roll, but that's not really much of a real race.
x2 rwd launching > ss s/c launching
from a roll, you will probably have him. roll racing is another term for speeding
if you're having an actual planned race, why not race from a dig and see who is the better driver overall? at least that way you have plenty of bragging rights about how he's a shitty driver if he loses or almost loses.

they definitly do have a speed rep though.. but stock that year/ bodystyle isn't like a godly car or anything..

there have been 99-04 GTs that have run high 13s. just like there's been cobalts that run 14.4 or whatever. i haven't personally seen a cobalt run a 14.4, but i'm not going to spout off that it hasn't been done. an 05+ have pulled 13.4-13.6 with really good drivers. fair game for mach 1s.
^^New edge was Ford's styling deal in the late 90s-early00's. That's how come new cougars are called NECos.
