Okay, so this is for you pancake heads out there.
Wednesday night I roll raced this guy in an 06 WRX with some mods. I know these mods
A. Because we spoke in person and
B. His signature states the same things we mentioned in person.
I am bone stock (for now) as I only have 2600 miles on the car.
Here are his mods:
this is straight from his signature ... he could have more mods done (I'm not too sure).

2.5 inch drop on Megan springs Megan Downpipe
SPT intake and cat back exhaust Pro Slot Rotors
Goodridge Stainless Brake lines, Hawk HPS pads
We go from a 35-40 roll, 3 honks and we take off all the way up to 90 and he has me by a half car to a full car length. We did this 2 more times with the same results! This was all done NLSing as well
What do you think he's putting down?
I was thinking mid 300s for both wheel and torque.
I know he's a quick car as he took me clearly.
Just figured I'd share my story of a REAL life encounter and not stating some false accusation of beating a GT500, etc. as we know if real life with an untuned cobalt, we cannot beat.

If he is tuned for high elevation with a vf39 he is not touching 300awhp. He is around 270-275 on a mustang dyno, but he probably has 360wtq. Its just a Sti turbo swap. Good run though props for posting a run where u lose.
If hes tuned for high elevation, he will make MORE power down near sea level. Probably not a good idea to be running the tune, but its probably close to 290whp

No way he is near mid 300's in the HP department, like others have said he probably isnt touching 300whp. I honestly think from a roll you should have won, maybe he is lying about other mods or how much boost he is pushing.
Funny. I almost never win in my car (modded ss/sc). The only thing i beat so far has been a 2008 Si with I/H/E, mounts, and Tune.
Got my ass spanked by a modded STi too... I can has blower swap pleez?
