17" Wheels on SS/SC

I am toying with the idea of installing some 17X8 5Zigen FN01R-C wheels on my SS/SC. Should there be any problem clearing the brakes or suspension with the smaller diameter and added width. My idea behind this is the 18's are pretty heavy and by going with a smaller lighter wheel it should help handling, braking and acceleration. Any thoughts on this? also if anyone has an idea on what offset i would need to go with it would be greatly appreciated.

A smaller wheel does not always mean lighter, so be careful in your selection. A 17" wheel should clear the rotors as I believe some members on the fourm have done this already.

5zigen lists the wheels at 17lbs so i think i am alright in that regard. I believe the stock wheels are 25lbs.

Many SS/SC owneres don't know----but 2.4L SS has the same axles and brakes--and they come with 17X7 wheels. IMO--going to an 17X8 is unwarranted

Anyone know if 15" rims will work on a SS/SC? I'm thinkin of pickin up a cheap pair of light 15s and putting some slicks on em for the track.

17's will work fine, I bought a set for my Pirelli SnowSport winter tires. 15" wheels are too small.

You can go as low as 16s, but not 15s. Here's a pic of what the 16s look like on with snow tires, but it gives you an idea of how stuff fits in there:

I don't think 15's will fit. However there is a guy that has 16's running drag radials on his yellow ss.

Just pay attention, this 5Zigen specific wheel model isn't available with the good bolt pattern. The SS is 5x110, those wheels you propose are not !!!

That's not that surprising, the tires themselves will be pretty heavy. I wish we knew just what the Pirellis weighed.
