18" ADR Phantoms...help choose tire size

I've ordered a set of these...18x7.5 for my g5.

I cant decide if I should get 225/35/18 or 225/40/18

The 35's are a perfect match for my speedo...just dunno how they would hold up to a bump in the road?

thoughts?

I would go with the 225 40's. It's a perfect side wall for the wheel. Not too narrow for bumps in the road. I know because that's what i have.

I have 18"x8" ADR propulsion wheels with 235/40/18 tires. You will have too much wheel gap with a 35 profile tire and there will be a greater risk of bending your rim if you hit a pothole. Get the 225/40/18's. They will be perfect for your needs.

35 series is too thin. I ran that before and it was very rough and thw wheel gap sucked. I'm running 235/40/18 dropped on sportlines and it looks sick.

235's are a bit wide for a 7.5" wheel. Cornering performance will be better with a 225 tire.

Not at all. My wheels are 18x7.5 and it's pretty much perfect. Cornering does not seem to be affected negatively at all.

OK, I'll rephrase that. 235's are good, but 225's are fine.

235's will throw my speedo off by 5%....dont want that much of an error in speed.

I'm going with 225/40/18

What's your point?

Exactly...I don't look at my speedo anyways.

I thought about it when I got my tires, but then I figured 5% isn't huge if you have an analog gauge. I don't look at the speedo long enough half of the time to get a precise speed to the tenths decimal place.

Performance >>>>> Speedo Accuracy

My point is; I mentioned in the top post I was between 225/35 and 225/40. I stated the benefit of my speedo being correct with the 35's but worried about road hazards with the small profile. It was the purpose of my post.

225 is plenty wide for my 2.2

Thanks everyone
