some guy tried to put 18 inch SS/SC wheels on his car but i think they hit the calipers. they dont have the proper back spacing to clear the brakes

Yup. It's the other way around that there's a problem because the SS/TC has big brakes.

duuuudee, yesssss hahaha, you just saved my night. i was like dude, i did not just blow 400$ for these sexy things

so for reference

ss s/c = +40
ss t/c = +42

i got eibach sportlines, so i'm thinking of matching some 235/40/18s on this set of new wheels =]

I tried that and they didnt clear by quite some bit. I orded 15mm spacers from gravanatuning and im waiting on those. Hopefully they clear the brakes.

Sounds like you got a damn good deal too. $400 for a set? How many miles are on them?

im positive spacers will work, just have to reset the wheel TPMS some how. Im just going to take it to the dealer or have Tune Time performance use HPT and take it out for the time being. I dont believe my 05-06 SS/SC wheels have the TPMS

17' SS/NA rims will fit. It has been done buy a few here already, I sold mine to a local member who test fitted them on his SS/TC in my parking lot. It fits. It's tight, only around 3 mm clearance for the brembos but it fits.

I'd put on a small spacer like 3-5mm.

Edit:
Edit for some linkage to pics from another member.

Ummm... Its a moving part, under load.... I have seen lots of rims with stress cracks, and lug hole issues...
90% of the time I am sure you will be right, and there will be nothing wrong, but you can still run into problems and defects with a used rim.
