225/40-18 Or 225/45-18?
Hey guys. So I'm replacing my stock SS/SC tires (215/45/18). I'm going with a set of KDW's but torn if I should go 40 or 45 for height. I'm currently stock suspension but have a set of Progress springs I'm going to be putting in. It only lowers it 1" in the front and 2" in the back so my car won't be slammed. Post some pics to help make my decision!

215/45-18- Going 60mph
225/40-18- Speedo reads 61.2mph
Speedometer difference- 2.117% too fast
Diameter difference- 2.07%
225/45-18- Speedo reads 59.1mph
Speedometer difference- 1.398% too slow
Diameter difference- 1.39%
My vote is stick with the stock size or step up to the 225/45-18. The 225/40-18 is supposed to be on a 7.5" rim at the minimum. I have seen one ss/sc in person with the 225/40-18 it looked like the tire didn't fit the rim. Just saying. Also the SC has a 4.05 final drive which is already geared low so the taller tire won't hurt your acceleration too much. I think it drops to a 3.9 final drive with the 225/45-18. You can also get your speedo recalibrated if this is a concern.

Well i'm going TVS so I need wider rubber. But lots of people run 40's on the SC rim. Way more than 45's that I've seen. But that's something to take into consideration!

Here's the pic, for your refference, btw 225/45/18 never rubbed, 245/45/18 fit on the front with no rubbing with a 3mm spacer and fit fine in the back, 235/45/18 will fit without any problems all around...Ask me how I know lol...keep in mind I Haz Stock Suspension
