on emk3 5 x 110 x 8 inch the wheels were too narrow. That picture is from 2008. I run 5 x 114.3 @ 9.5now and its much better. The picture on slicks was stock LNF Brembo rotors and calipers. I run floating rotors now same diameter, but 2 mm thicker and a better material, more expensive thick cheek racing rotor.
If you want to run wheels without spacers you need to have about 38mm offset but it is also dependent on the design of the wheel spokes, you can have the correct offset but not enough clearance for calipers due to spoke design.
Most if the newer Enkei wheels will work fine. Older wheels like the RF series Emkei maybe a struggle to clear Brembos. New Buick Regal GS calipers are bigger still and will be a challenge to fit in most wheels. Enkei PF01 are good for practically any Caliper set up, but you need 5 x 114.3 to get the range of offsets and widths you need, 5 x 114.3 is a more popular pcd/more cars/more potential sales. Mustang is 5 x 114.3 for example

I was looking at a 255/40/17 and it appears that its 3/4" wider than my current tires and 1cm shorter. The rims I want have a +40mm offset so I will need a spacer?
A 245/40/17 may be a better idea... lol
who else makes brake kits for the cobalt? I would like Brembos but I dont want to increase my brake size since Im running 15/16 rims for drag racing, I know Baer makes a kit, does wilwood or anyone else?

we make our own spacers. 3 and 5 mm and hub centric must be at least 1.25 inches iirc (gotta check with the machinist) email me is best john@powellraceshop.com thanks

the spacer is perfectly centered. the diameter for the holes for the studs is more than necessary to clear as you can tell. and the spacer can be rotated but there is no up/down/left/right play. and once the wheel is mounted you can run your fingers along and feel where everything is mated up and flush.

well after a bit of talking with Powell, found what should be a perfect setup. Going to be ordering some 5mm spacers and the rims/tires Im looking at, should be super nice.
Thanks John

So when I order my rims, since they are custom and I can choose between +16 and +50 offset, How should I order them? Considering that I will get 18x8.5 or 18x9 to run 255/35? Is +50mm too much? I'm looking to have the wheels as flush as possible with the fenders.

Yea, I love 5x114.3. Its the pattern I had on my DSM, I could get wheels anywhere.
