Hey guys,

What is everyones recommendation for tires in the snow? Im desiring a set of good All-season tires that work in snow, rain, and dry conditions but still manage to maintain alittle performance characteristic, (i.e. good tire walls).

2nd, where is the best place to buy said tire? cheapest cost?


tire size im looking for is either 225/40/18 or 235/40/18.

I would go with the snow track conversion

but on a serious note, dont go all season its either one or the other imo

Snow tires are best in snow!

Seriously though, all seasons give you mediocre performance all year. You are better off to have a dedicated set of snow tires and run summer performance tires in warmer weather.
Keep in mind that bot sets will last a long time due to only being used half of the year. I n the long run, it's not going to cost you any more!

bah, ok, lol. Then whats the best snow tire?

this past winter, I had the stock conti's.... its aweful... and very scarey.

I almost made it through the winter but the second hugwe snow storm we had caused me to slide down a hill and into a snow bank. Did almost no damage at all, except for some paint missing. I dont want that to happen again.

I just check ConsumerReports for their top rated snow tire and buy that. I've had 2 sets purchased that way and the best tire was actually cheaper than some and worked very well. I even helped Rallyracer buy his set and he loves his. I can get you a compared list if you want....

Its july dont worry about snow tires until theres snow on the ground. at least thats the attitude of everyone here in Pa it seems

lol, well, the thing is my current tires are about to go. They are still the stock continentals and they have roughly 32,000+ miles on them, still tread and still react in the rain but I know they wont do **** in the snow. I was thinking all seasons cause I can use them now and get my tires replaced.

My rear tire has a nail in it and I have no idea when thats going to give.

Iv got firestone winterforce tires and they were amazing all winter. I got them for like 70bucks a piece from tirerack.com

If you have a few hundred bucks though, I would suggest a Summer only tire on stock rims and then winter tires on cheap 17"s.

Blizzaks FTW Great snow tire's I had them on my 350z. Worked great even on RWD car in the winter.

I had the graspics on my RL and Im willing to bet that id pull away from my cherokee in 4wd with the rl.

funny though, blizzaks usually arent the top rated tire. I think buyers just say they are cuz they cost more :P they did hit #2 spot on the CR list this last year though.

I've got Mastercraft Winter-Force tires mounted on 17s. They're cheap off brands, but they work excellently.

Blizzak LM series is good. I personally get great traction with Firestone Winterforce studdable.

I went through a Chicago winter on Continental DWS's last year with no problem.Also not a bad summer tire either.My wife has goodyear Eagle GT's on her Mini and those performed very well also.
