Cheaper tires?

I'm looking for a good set of tires that will last me for the longest time with the best price possible. My question is, should I try tire shops in my area or from your own experience will I be able to get them cheaper online? Thanks!!

Kumho Ecsta SPT's (Z rated) 90-100 each on tirerack.com...they claim a good treadwear rating.

You will probably find some nice prices online, but the shipping will make it as much as in town...especially if someone makes a deal for you... I was wondering the same thing, so I thought I just stop by Discount Tire for the hell of it and check it out (btw I was only looking for tires...nothing else) and I started looking at some Falkens ($136/tire) and the sales guy dropped it to $115/tire right in front of my eyes... Plus they can do the install for you and you can get some other benefits. Check around town before you get completely set on an online price. Some shops will be willing to have your business. Good luck.

The kuhmo SPTs have a good price, but I just got rid of mine. 18k miles and they were bald. Not bad, but I wanted more. Trying the General exclaim UHP now, since I mainly drive to and from work.

Wrong on the mounting price, try $10 to $20 per tire at almost anyshop, UNLESS you buy the tires there, some shops will include the mounting in the price of the tire. I sell tires at my shop, i have some cheaper lines available. Not for sale online but just as a comparison. Spector Z100's in 225/40/18 with a 320AA treadwear rating at just $83 also Nexan N5000 same size with a 340AA at $85, the General UHP tires (my favorite) with a 380AAA rating for $99. We charge $12.50 each for mounting and balancing, good pricing on tires but you do still have to pay to have them mounted. If someone brings in tires purchased somewhere else, we charge $15.00 each. The Nittos are $410, actually $460 on the rim and out the door... CHECK YOUR LOCAL SHOPS!!!

I just replaced my stock Rosso's (18K miles) with Kumho Ecsta MX 225/40/18 for 460 shipped to my local tire store and 60 to mount and balance them so 520 isn't bad.

I like the tires waiting on my solid mount before I try launching on them.

Red.... I happen to be back on my Pirelli's now!

But I did have a set of Falken ZE-512s (replaced by the 912s now) but they were damn good tires! Very cheaply priced they wore very good as well!

I think I got my set of 4 for like 400-450/ plus tax mount and balance at Sears! But do you search online you can get them very affordable!

you cant compare treadwear between manufacturers. hell you cant even use it between, oh take for example michelin and bf goodrich. both under same manufacturer, but test differently.

treadwear rating is about useless. just have to kind of decipher possible mileage outcome. oh and watch out for cooper tires. they are some of the most recalled tires
