Hey guys, just wondering to those of you who've put Contis DWS's on your car, i was wondering how they stack up to the stock Sport contact 2's.

I'm thinking of making the switch as I've run out of tread at 45,000kms (28,000miles) and it's time for new tires.

Ive got GMS1 in my car, that's about it.. Will I notice less traction on hard 2nd gear pulls? My Sport Contact 2's barely hold on for these pulls as is...

i've heard nothing but good things from DWS owners. Don't buy V12 EVO's if you like handling..

I'd suggest you loon on tire rack and compare using tread rating's;
this rating is supposed to be used as a slide rule for tread life...

the stock Continental SportContact2 is a good tire, but imho, a bit too soft ~ which would probably help make the car do great on the Nurburgring... but not so great on eeking out a long time between required tire replacement's... which can be pretty pricey.

the DSW does have plenty of good reviews on Tire Rack ~ and the thread here made for the DSW serves to make a review that more applicable to someone like you or I...
I chose to patiently scour kijiji for my replacements;
I have (get this) Continental SportContact tires... not "2" (225/45/18) ~ these are OEM BMW tires;
and used for the fronts in a staggered set ~ I bought two separate pairs for great prices, are nice & quiet (which many tires are not these days), and might compromise some all out traction for longer tread life...
so far I'm quite happy with them.

before I found used tires locally, I had a short list of tires that I kept track of by adding to my "want list" on tire rack ~ which I was going to use to order new if I couldn't find something I liked locally.

DWS has an all season compound (good for about 40K miles) vs. a summer compound (about 20K miles), so they are not quite as sticky as the SportContact.

are there many tires that you carry which are not hosted on your site?

I was looking for 235/40/18 Continental ContiWinterContact TS 810 Sport tires, and they're not listed...
even Continental-USA doesn't list them...
but Continental-Canada does...
I believe they are an optional OE tire for some Porsche's

i got the dws's... they're good tires, i gotta say. havent experienced the snow yet with them but they handle great dry or wet. you have a lot of feel so you know when understeer is gonna happen.

straight line traction... in 1st gear when i was still stock it would rip the tires loose in the high rpms. now that i'm stage 2 + other **** 1st gear is useless. but its been cold lately so idk.

overall though i love these tires

In my all life I only had a very few tires better than Continental

TS810 (dedicated winter) has been discontinued (to us at least) for the past two years with no real replacement from Conti. Everything we can get is listed online, and we try to keep inventory levels updated every few minutes.

I have the conti DWS extreme contact on my car! I've had them for about a year now and i couldn't be happier! They grip amazing, and also i still have plenty of tread left. I would recommend these in a heartbeat! Best thing is, is that they are also really affordable!

i have two sets of rims, one with dws's and the other with evo 12's. The evo's imo handle better in dry than the conti's but still dont not handle as good as the sport 2's. also i got 235's for both.

I found them local, but it was brutal enough for me to opt for another pair of similar tires...

would have liked to buy new ~ or have the option to do so in the future.

no I'm not kidding.

I've run DWS and they're the best all-seasons ever. Now, the generals have all the same silica compounding with a more aggressive tread pattern and softer rubber and even cheaper. I'm running them now and have not had them in snow yet but, I'm in love.

How do the DWS compare to the DW? My brother has the DWS on his 06 Solstice and they're good tires. Grip well, and handle nice. They're predictable too, unlike the stock RSAs on that car. If the DWS is more of an all season, the DW would perform better, no?

Also, who actually used those as an all season? Get real, its not meant for snow...regardless of what they say hahahaha

I used dws for the last 2 winters now switched to the generals but we get about 5 snow falls a year, your in canada get some real winter tires and some summers.

DW will give you better grip near the limit of the car (like on a track), but at the expense of durability; DWS should get around 40K+ miles and the DW about 25K
