it might be kinda hard to poke a 4.5" wide wheel. the fronts may though a little, 15x8 +38??

Yes you'll be totally fine. That's only 7mm difference from stock. I was running 8.5 +35 with just lowering springs and stock struts for one season with no rubbing issues.

they wont clear the strut, thats a bit too high of an offset for the width of the rim

what size r the rims u have now? 18x7.5 or 8?

u can measure what that additional inch or half inch will be, and if the offset is different for your current rims. Take that into account

235/40/18 is a cooler size tire tho

doesnt sound like the 8.5 will fit with out clearance issues on the strut

& the 5mm spacer wont be enough...something with lower offset will be better

googled searched 18x8.5 +42
"wow i didnt think this size tires would fit undr these cars.
i rocked 18x8.5 +42 offset with 225/40/18 and they rubbed like a son of a ***** in the front on the strut towers and fender."

bring lower isn't going to change the tire/strut clearance. it'll only change the tire/fender clearance

I fail to see the problem? A little JB weld and that wheel would be fine!
