Found rubber, need steelies
Hey all,
So I kind of don't want to wreck my car over the winter break, so I checked out consumer reports and the Michelin X-Ice ring in at the best. So I have two choices:
1) Buy rubber and put them on my 17" SS rims, and purchase some new 17" rims to put the stock Pirelli rubber on, or
2) Buy rubber and a set of steelies for strictly winter tire useage.
Now I understand that the 17" wheels on there right now are low profile, but there appears to be a lot of space in the wheel well for standard profile rubber.
So what size of Michelin X-Ice would I need to put on my 17" rims (if that's possible), or what size of rim would I need for the 155/80R13 79Q version of the rubber? Are those 13" rims? What exactly is recommended? Should I go and do what Jonel did and get 16" HHR rims and put the corresponding winter rubber to match? Is that the cheapest way?
I really am a beginner at rim sizes, so basically what you guys say will end up being what I get. So choose for me wisely!
Cheers,
G.

The 09 17 inch steel rims on the Malibu fit and look pretty good. They also come with hubcaps sometimes. They fit a 215\50\17 tire
That is personally what I have on my ss\sc for winter.
