The stock wheel size on my ss is 18x7.5. I plan on picking up some G6 GTP wheels soon which are 18x7. The tires i have on my car are 215/45R18. I did some research and it looks as if the tires will fit my new wheels, but are there any downsides to running this combo? Uneven wear? less traction? Extra stress on parts of the tire? and are there any downsides to running a narrower rim in general? even with the correct size tires...

you're good to go.

 

if u have 215/45/18 you most likely have 18x7 SS sc wheels but if u have a turbo they are 18x7.5

SS/SC 18x7 215
SS/TC 18x7 225

Your fine. You can run a few sizes either direction and be fine. I am going to run 225 on a 18x8 when I get my custom drilled wheels in.
