Gunmetal Grey Plastidip! Silver Metalizer

Hey,

I saw this Silver Metalizer plastidip kit from dipyourcar.com and thought I'd give it a go. I was pretty happy with it at first, but had no experience. This is how it turned out.

As you can see it looks more black than gunmetal, but if you look close you could tell it isn't black.

So I got some more black (which was cheaper at Homedepot than the website) and I had 2 cans of silver left from the kit I bought and tried it again.

This is how it turned out the second go around and what it is currently

As you can tell it looks a lot more gunmetal. For me this works better, there's been a few friends of mine that thought the darker gun metal looked cooler in person, than the photo and looks cooler than what it is currently.

I however prefer the current look.

What do you guys think?

I actually really like it man! I've been looking to do my wheels gunmetal for quite a while now too (although I might go a little darker than that) so I'd be curious about some more info as well. I'm particularly curious about this metalizer stuff.

unfortunately plastidip just peels off the lip of the rims after a week or 2.

Yes you do you base coat which is just the flat black everyone uses or has, then on top of that you add the silver metalizer. They have Gold Metalizer too. They also have a white base to make it more silver-ish like stock silver or more bright gold. I thought about using the gold to make a deep dark bronze color, but I opted for gunmetal.

My experience has been different. I had my first attempt on for a few weeks and it still looked a ok.

I'll do a follow up in a few weeks with photos to show how well it's holding up.

Yeah there's a few of my friends that thought the darker gun metal looked cooler.

I did several coats of black not sure the amount, but a little less than a can a wheel. Then I did 2 cans of silver for my current, but for the darker I added about 2 coats of silver. One can for all 4 wheels.

yeah I did. I heard it's better when it's thick, more resilient.
