Try using some 3M rubbing compound and hand rub the scratches. Next wax them. Should clean up well If you want try using a buffer, but use caution because you can burn the clear coat. Good luck

Use the finest polishing compund you can get and run in a straight line dont use a circular motion then use a good quality sealant. Mequiars makes a good sealant as does Klasse

I have a couple scratches on front passenger rim on my 18s... still trying to figure out what to use as they are a painted rim that appear to be clearcoated... so Im very hesitant to use any type of polish on the rim...

I wouldn't recommend using anything close to a steel wool pad on any rims! I work at a parts store and we carry just about everything that Mothers and Megiuars makes, and I have tried just about everything out on my cars over the last few years.
Chrome & Aluminum polish is just a very fine cut rubbing compound with some wax thrown in. It will remove fine as well as large scratches with some added rubbing.
If you have painted rims with clear coat, you might want to get some touch-up paint to match and build up coats by applying layer after layer of touch-up, wet sand it with some 2000 grit wet sand paper until smooth, spray it with some clear coat in a spray can, let it dry and then wax the hell out of it.

For anyone checking this thread in the future, on the Mother's forum they recommend their plastic polish as our rims have a urethane clearcoat on them and not the metal polish...

Yes any clearcoated rim...I used the powerball and some Meguiar's "Scratch X" and it did the trick but I want to try the Mother's polish as it was made to use w/ the powerball...Sorry for the wait in the response...
Sorry I meant to say "PlastX" in my last post not "Scratch X", sorry for the misinformation...

A Simple Sewn Cloth wheel & Some Polish if the Clearcoat is gone! Then a Loose Cloth wheel with Polish! If it is in the Clearcoat Merquires scratch remover works very well! As stated earlier using Polish for bare Metal will not work if it is Clearcoated!
