I hit a pothole :(

Well the other day my ******* got a little to far to the edge of the road and I hit a spot in the road that was pretty much gone and I hit it. Well now once i hit 70mph i get good vibration and i can't really tell where it's coming from but it seems like its coming from the passenger side on the drive tire. Now i thought maybe a bent rim but as im looking at the rim both sides I don't see any dips or anything in the rim. Anything else could cause it? Tire or maybe one of the weights popped off the rim? I felt of one of the weights and they seem slightly loose inside the rim.

take it too a shop and have them do a rim runout check on it and rebalance the tire. the rim runout check will show if the rim is bent or not and doesn't hurt to have it rebalanced

Well guys and update

I went to the shop today and check on my front rim and it was fine but apparently the rear is what hit the pothole the worst....Yea I got a bent rim on the inside which is causing the thump. The guy was able to balance no problems so he said it shouldn't be as bad as it was but does anyone have an extra rim laying out that is polished?

could be a minor warping in the rim. i hit a pothole a while back also, but i didn't even know it was warped. i took it to dobbs to put tires on and they told me about it.

I'll know when i get up to 80 tomorrow and see how bad it is now. :p

I seen it and its a good size bend in the inside part of the rim...I was going to get a pic of it before they put in on but my girl called me and I was telling her about it and by the time i got off they had it back on and on the ground.

hey there think i can help. I work at discount tire, and there is the chance that you can bend the wheel in the middle and its not visable only want to tell if if they get it on a balancer they will be able to see any kind of wobble there is and the runout is more for the tire. it will show how out of round it is and they machine will try to compensate but moving it differently on the wheel

well you can do a bare rim runout, depending on how new your tire balancer is it will tell you if your rim is bent enough that it require replacement or repair. tires and oil changes are all i've done for the last 3 1/2 years.

and i think the function you are refering to sportballa is the force matching where you match the high point of the tire to the low point of the rim to lower the imbalance

go aftermarket. or if you really want there are places that will refinish your rim for you, makes it look stock, make sure it is in round and all that good stuff. alot cheaper then a new rim, most places to do it is under $200 up here anyways so probably about half of that down in the states
