Just bought 4 of these on eBay from discounttiredirect. With the Goodyear $20.00 rebate and the 25% cashback from the Microsoft / Paypal "Live Search" rebate these will cost me $99.00 each

These are a newer tire and I was not able to get any feedback from users on this forum. I'll post my thoughts on these a few weeks after they are mounted.

Those tires are getting on the big side. Don't be surprised if your tires rub when you have passengers in the back over bumps or when your at full lock.

215/45/18 to 225/45/18

By going with 225/45/18 tires, when your speedo reads 65 MPH you will actually be going 65.9 MPH

I would say those tires will be fine, as long as you know you are going a bit faster than your speedo reads...

My bad

I think the SS/SC got the largest diameter tires avaiable in the cobalt. 25.6"
I keep thinking they have 225/40/18 which are 25.1"

Like the person above said, the 225/45/18 are 26" tall. A little wider and taller from orignal 215s.

#1 - I live in Wisconsin and got stuck in 2 inches of snow on the summer tires
#2 - The summer only tires also suck in the rain as I have hydroplained one too many times
#3 - 9000 miles and my summer tires are almost dead
#4 - I really don't want to have an extra set of tires and rims laying around
#5 - The summer tires pick up too many small rocks that chip the ground effects
#6 - The summer tires get super stiff in colder temps and spin like hell

So these can be rotated from side to side ? If you just look at the thread pattern they do look like directional tires.

they do look like directional tires, but they arnt, it has an outside and and inside sidewall, so one sidewall is always out, so they can be rotated front to back and side to side.

I just got this reply from discounttiredirect.com:

"Hello:

The Goodyear Eagle GT is a directional tire and should be rotated front
to back only. We don't have specific instructions on our website.

If we can be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact us.
Our sales department can
be reached at 1-800-707-8473 ( press 1 for sales )
Or our website discounttiredirect.com"

Then when I questioned their answer I got this:

"Hello:

Sorry, I goofed, it is an assymetrical design which means it can be cross-

rotated. Typically , rotate the drive axle tires straight up or back and
cross
rotate the non-drive axle tires."

First off dont take this the wrong way...but when they say summer tires, why would you think they could go in the snow??? 9000 miles on a set of 4 summer tires??? Were these on the stock pirelli's??? If so you must off drove that car hard. I can understand about the extra tire and rims....but I could handle my rims being destroyed by the harsh winters, not to mention low pro's arent exactly ideal for snow. But picking up small rocks and so suck, I hear that...but I want traction and all-season wont ever give me the traction I desire. But good luck on those....hope they work well for ya...definately cant beat the price.

I never did think that but had no choice in the matter as they came with the car. The tires are still a tad above the wear bars but I just wanted safer tires this winter

stock tire height is 25.69 or 25.7 inches and those are 25.9 inches. Those aren't too big. They will work fine.

I just got the front two tires mounted and on the car. All of the roads in my area are now hard pack snow covered. There is much less wheel spin while driving normal. The stock Pirelli tires were like driving on ice in any snow condition. Steering and braking are also much improved as I now do not have to crawl around corners and wonder if I will stop in time.

Although these tires are only one size larger they really fill up more of the wheel well and give the car a much different look.

Now I just have to get the rear two on and I'll be set

PS: I'm taking these in already off the car to get mounted two at a time because I don't trust the tire shop (kids at Tires Plus) with the lift and air wrench.

Did any of you rub with these tire's? I have mine mounted on aftermarket AR9's and I rubbed in reverse the first time I backed up on an incline parking lot while having to turn the steering wheel to the right. I had to trim both sides of the ground effects, right where it's bolted in the wheel well, and I haven't rubbed since. There is maybe 1/8 - 1/4 inch clearance on these tires when you are turning. I would recommend to people not to buy the 225/45/ZR18 just because they may rub. The performance is FANTASTIC though, they grip extremely well at the stop lights with very little spinning in second at full throttle and I can take corners like spiderman!!

Yes mine also seem to be rubbing in the same area. Only on the passenger side because on the ground effect just inside of the mounting screw the plastic is warped inward towards the tire. How and what did you use to trim the ground effect piece ? Pictures ?

I used a razor blade and trimmed the plastic off so it wouldn't catch the tire when I was making turns. Mine was also just doing it on the passenger side but I trimmed both sides just in case. It hasn't rubbed since. I also dropped my air pressure to 32psi. They came from the factory on the AR9 wheels with 38psi. Way to much IMO.....
