My SS/SC rims project

My SS/SC rims project

when i first got them

sanded and cleaned


1st coat of primer


2nd coat of primer(heavier)


wet sand


1st coat of gloss black paint(light)


2nd coat of gloss black paint(light)


3rd coat of gloss black paint, then dry sand with very fine grit


this is the pic after 5 coats of semi-gloss black enamal paint


still in progress, im waiting for the black enamal to dry then next is a suprise

thats what ive heard. a guy in miami bought my hahn kit and he said its real nice down there all year. i hate snow, and would move if i could get a job that pays what mine does in a warm state

yeah i live right next to tampa and its really nice, it was so hot earlier then my shoulders got slightly sun-burnt but that was like 4 hours outside, usually you burn in like 20 min in the middle of the summer lol, also the roads here are mostly all good, no huge ass potholes and being at sea level is nice for the track

You aren't going heavy enough if you have 5 coats on and still have bare spots. Light coats are good, but too light will leave a "pebbly" finish. You need to put enough on so it can flow out smooth.

I'm doing this same project this week thanks to 4 flat tires that I am forced to replace. Anyway I have all my supplys ie: Dupli Color black wheel coating, Dupli Color clear coat, 1000 and 1400 grit wet/dry sandpaper and tape. I was told that I did not need to use a primer when using the Wheel Coating, is this true? Has anyone on the site ever used it before?

you guys are doing wayyyyy to much work this is all you really need

1.scotch bright pad and scuff the rims up
2.put on 2 good coats of a good primer
3.lay on a decent not to think coat of black
4.put about 4 more layers on and let dry

iv painted i **** you not 18 dif sets of rims

update: finished, now all i need to do is get them mounted and balanced

not my style but you did a good job man


if you havent cleared yet be carful cause alot of clears like bubble up and cause yellowing on the white.....trust me lol
