No wheel weights for me !!
No wheel weights for me !!
I know everyone worries with are wheels about losing a wheel weight that is glued on the inside of the rim going 100 mph down the highway. So a buddy of mine who races motorcycles and has been for 15 years told me about a product called EQUAL. It is injected into your tire before it is inflated and constantly balances your tire while you drive. It is mostly used for truck drivers and trucks that go off roading to decrese noise and also so they dont lose steel weights while climbing all sorts of obsticles. He uses it in his bikes all the way up to 200mph with no problem. So I am going to try this out in my KDW II and let everyone no how it goes. I have an 06 with 24000 miles and am now just changing the stock Pirelli's tires on my car. Here is the link if you want to read more about it.

Its only going to cost me 20 bucks. He is mounting and balancing for free, just charging for the equal which he gets a deal on.
Idk about that.. the wheel weights are not goin to come off of the inside of the rim.If the do its still safe to drive to the tire shop, and for 5 bucks ill just stick with the weights........
I use the tape on weights on all wheels that don't have a lip to mount a hammer on weight. If you prepare the rim surface properly, you will have no problem mounting tape on weights.
That being said, I use equal at my work with large commercial truck tires and for huge off road tires. It is cool stuff, but i think the smallest package of equal we can get is 3oz. I just mounted and balanced 4 new tires on my stock SS/SC wheels tonight and i did not require more that 1.5oz at the most per wheel. the best balancing wheel only took .50oz (Dynamic balance, not static) and the worst 1.5oz. so if my wheel/tire size required a minimum of 3oz and actual balancing required way less, I would have an excessive amount of excess rotational mass added to my wheels. again, you may think that is splitting hairs, but its still something to consider. and I'll say again, any tire guy that knows what they are doing has no problem using stick on weights on any wheel.
