"PIT" How do you get it off?

Im not 100% where this question should go but here it is.

I have after market wheels and they are black and polished. Well on the polished part there are a bunch of marks. My sisters bf told me it is called "PIT" From the asphalt on the roads little pieces get stuck to the rims. How do i get it off? Iv washed the rims, with a toothbrush and then did a mix of a chemical and water. Its still on there. Anyone know how to get this crap off?

yeah any kind of compound or polish will work wonders( the grit is to fine to damage the wheel and it will just take off the tar or pitting put into ur rims... pit is not whats on the wheel its what happens to the wheel u get pits in it( little knicks or something from eather break dust or stuff eating at the wheel... can be fixed with a powerball and some good aluminum polish or compound. good luck and if u cant get it off i would recomend trying to get some 3500-4500 grit sand paper and water / wet sand it... if u need anymore help pm me and ile help ya out.... this is kinda my job at work so i am descently good at it.

Varsol/paint thinner followed immediately with soapy water. DO NOT use lacquer thinner! lol
