Racing Rims/Tires
I've done some searching/ research on this topic, and haven’t found much on it.
So I figured I’d start a thread on it.
Racing season will be here before you know it.
Starts April here in Ohio/Michigan.
I have been sitting money aside, and am looking for some rims & tires for this season.
I did however find out a lot about the rims aspect.
Basically we are screwed since 15" rims won’t fit on a SS/SC.
Myself along with other have been looking for slicks that will work on a 16", 17", 18" rims, along with the cobalt itself.
Does anyone know what the widest tire is that can be put on a cobalt SS/SC without rubbing? What has been tried so far, what works, and what doesn’t?
I was thinking about getting DR's but after talking it over with a lot of local guys they told me not to waste money on DRs.
Why buy street tires when you already have a set.
The SRT's around here are running 15" rims w/ slicks. They say that slicks help cut down on wheel hop a lot. They are less stressful to the engine/tranny, but the stock clutch will not like them that much.
So who else plans on running their cars this upcoming year (06 season)?
What are your plans?
So basically, I just want to know what everyone plans on running.
I want to run slicks personally, but can’t seem to find something that will work.
Also, does anyone know were I can purchase 2 of the stock 18" SS/SC rims, other then the dealership and ebay?

the stock 18's are heavy man...24 lbs a piece before you add tires...you might want to try something lighter if you can, i bet 16" steelies would be lighter...or wait and see if axis releases the reverb in our bolt pattern, but i wouldn't use the stock 18's for racing
