Rossos In Winter..?

Hey guys..

Who all used their Stock Rossos year around? I had Nero MS's on my last wheels and I was fine, but these Rossos seem less confident. Tire Rack claims them as Summer tires. If so, why are they stock tires?? I got them in a trade and just have to wait it out until Spring..

So, answer the poll! Add insight if you wish..

SUMMER ONLY. Not suited for winter.

They're stock because this is a performance car. Most people buy it to perform, not to be a reliable winter car. That's why the SS/SC owners have 2 (or more) sets of tires, one for summer and one for winter.

The stock ss/sc tires are brutal for the winter. Don't even try if you get any kind of snow. If you do, lower your deductible.

a "performance" car isnt gonna come stock with tires that are sutable for driving in snow. they arent meant to be driven in wintery conditions. although with the right tire/wheel combo, the cobalts are tanks in less then ideal conditions.

seeing as you live in pittsburgh, if you value you car, property, life, and that of others, do yourself a favor and just get winter tires and some steelies for next winter. dont question us, just do it.

There was no question about it. I'm definitely getting some for next winter. I was going to regardless of if these were good in the snow or not. I'm just waiting for spring so I can snag some for cheap. lol. These actually aren't THAT bad compared to the Nero MS's.. It's hard to tell because this last blast put down alot of ice under the snow too..

They are aweful, and if you think they are bad the 08-09 Stock Continentals are even worse

How about the tires you have on the IRL wheels? You said the one set was still good and the other was almost gone.. The good ones alright in the snow?

I'm definitely getting a set of winter-only wheels/tires if I'm keeping my 18's.. But if I go back to 17's I'm just gonna get some all-seasons..

Yeah the stock tires are not good in the snow. Any summer tire is not going to be good in the snow. The reason GM put summer tires ont he car is because the car is considered a performance car. Getting traction with the sticky summer tires is tough sometimes, with all weather tires it is even worse.

I drive year round with my summer tires, but here in Saint Louis we don't get that much freezing weather and what little snow we do get it usually only lasts a day or two before it melts off.

The Nero M&S are damn good in the snow. Head and shoulders above the Rossos.
