snow tires & experiences

Anyone know what type of snow tire is the best priced and best handling your (opinions reviews etc.) stock size 225-40-18 cause here in Pittsburgh it gets shitty and i live on 2 steep hills. and i am not interested in getting all seasons cause they obviously suck in snow from my experiences.

I saw some blizzacks and conti dws's but idk what to get. will have to acquire some before November.

get some 17s, the taller sidewall will help a lot with snow traction, low profile tires don't do good in snow. Blizzacks are very good snow tires.

yes I know, however finding a cheap set that clears the brembos will not only make swapping out tires easier, but it'll save your good tc wheels from the wear and tear of salt and snow. It's worth it imo, but I'm not gonna tell you what to do.

Once you use a set of dedicated snow tires, you'll never go back to all seasons

we'd have 17" alloy wheels starting at $ 162 each that would work if needed.

Best deep snow and ice tire in 225/40R18 would be either Bridgestone Blizzak WS70 or Michelin X ICE XI2.

my opinion is to check out Cooper Weathermaster's and to also get another set of rims to save your other ones...

There is nothing like a dedicated winter tire. I've used them every year for each of our two vehicles since getting stuck coming up the hill to my house and struggling to get into my driveway in 2000. Best thing to do is mount your tires on a set of winter wheels. Tire rack sells their packages cheap and already mounted and balanced.
I've always used Blizzaks (various models over the years) but switched to the Dunlops two years ago since they were the only winter tires with a V rating. Dunlops do a fine job in the snow but are much more noisier as they wear. For the SS/SC I only saw three or four choices thus far this year with Perelli being the only V rated tire.
In looking what is available in 225/18 I would go with the Bridgestone LM-60. Used these tires for several years.....they are outstanding.....even in an H rating.

I've been using General Altimax Artics - 215/55/16's on my SS for 3 winters now. As for driving in the snow, ice and slush I love em! Bought them as a tire and wheel package on tire rack.

i got the continental dws about a month ago.

no snow yet, obviously, but i can assure you they like corners, really good traction in the rain, and straight line performance is PRETTY good. not a summer tire, but acts close to one. also the tread looks tight.

few pics of them on the car... threadjackin, i know, my cars too sexy hehe
