So i just called the tire place...

I need new tires for the SS, I called Dunn Tire and they quoted me a price for the 215/45/18.
So i said how about a 225/45/18?? He was like "I cant promise you we would be able to mount the 225's on the rims. I was like WTF??? He is like well its going to throw off the speedometer and who knows what its going to do to the transmission. And why would you want the 225's on there??? I said cause they are cheaper. So then i said thanks and hung up.What a moron

Don't go 225/45/18. They are too tall and make your 18's look like 17's. Some people also have rubbing issues with that size. Get 225/40's or 235/40's.

225/45/18 are the same hight as stock just a little wider. You read the tire size as Width/Hight or profile/size rim they fit on. 225s will prolly fit on a stock car but if your lowered youll need to drop the profile down to a 40. That will give you more clearance

225/45/18's are taller than the stocker's. 45is not a designated height such as 45mm it is a percentage of the tire's width. So a 225/45/18 has a 101.25mm sidewall height while a 215/45/18 has a 96.75mm sidewall height...

so the difference is in the overall diameter is almost 1cm or just over 3/8"

For speedo accuracy I would go with 235/40/18, anything in 225 is going to be too slow or too fast by a couple mph. with the ones I listed your speedo reads 60.4 mph at 60mph.

I LOVE the look of my 225/45's much better then the one 235/40 i have. Not only does it fill the wheel well more but has a better ride. And i'm lowered on sportlines with no rubbing issues.
