ok GM has pissed me off soo much,....

my rims are starting too peel and i have had then in for repair 3 times and now i brought them back to the dealer and there telling me thats the way there chipping is my fault... meanwhile my car is in show room condition all the time... so after calling gm customer service and going back and forth for 3 weeks they come back to me telling me thats there pay for 50 % of re doing the rims. and thats i'll have to pay the other 50 % of them..

Dude honestly their rims...How the hell do you expect a dealer or GM to take blame for your rims flaking that isnt their fault...Are they faulty as in bending or nething for that matter....Dealers or GM cant take the hit for everything that happens to a car overtime....

What year is your car? Mine is a 2006 and they admitted to the rims being bad and replaced them with 2007 rims at no cost. That sucks that they wont replace them.
Good luck

If your car is still below 36,000 miles I dont see why they will not replace them. I had no problem when I showed them the paint chipping.

Well while you are all on the topic my rims are peeling too. I have little circles on all of my rims. I curbed a colbestone in my driveway which sucks ass so one rim got scraped due to that so idk if i should go to the dealer and ask for them to replace my rims. With my luck they will tell me that i hit curbs and **** cuz of one of my rims. I have 10,000 miles on my car and its an 06 ss/sc idk what to do?

This IS a REAL problem and not an issue of wear or abuse . There was a large batch of wheels from GM's supplier that were not prepped correctly causing the paint to bubble up from the aluminum and then flake off . This didnt effect all 05-06's , but it did effect alot of them .

plyboy-illest - I would just go to another dealer if possible . They cant tell you you cant talk to regional rep , thats rediculous . If possible I would try to go right over their heads and try to obtain the regional reps contact info from someone higher up in GM You will have to fully explain the situation with the other dealer , because who knows what the dealer youve been going to has included in your owner history file about this situation . What have they been doing , just replacing the wheels with brand new ones ~or were they sending them out to be refinished ? AFAIK the correct way the dealers are supposed handle this problem is to send the out to be refinished .

I had this same problem with mine . I had no issues with my dealer getting them replaced fully under warranty . They were sent out and refinished by Transwheel . The end result , was a MUCH MUCH better finish over stock , the clearcoat was thicker and shinier and most importantly .....they did not flake paint like the OEMs did . The color was an exact match to the stock hyper black ( GM calls it shadow chrome ) , and Transwheel used the same 3 stage painting process .

Sorry to hear about your problems man .....this problem is SOOOOOO obvious that problem with the flaking paint is coming from under the surface and NOT from external rock chips ect . Especially if yours were starting to bubble before the paint actually flaked off like mine were .

Try to catch it when the paint is starting bubble , before it flaked off . Thats the deal killer for the " oh , you scuffed the wheels , or rock chips ect " Like I said , any competent shop can tell the difference between delaminating paint that comes from under the surface and externally caused blemishes .

my dealer said that the cause was rocks chips.. i have owned a lot of wheels in my day and never have i seen a rock chip except the cheap ass stockers on the balt.. good thing i got rid of them. for as much money as they want for the stockers you think it would be a half way decent wheel...

I agree this is GMs problem, not the car owners problem. Mine flaked when the car had 500kms on it. They said it was cuz I drove it in the winter, which I never did cuz the car was built in the summer and never saw a winter month yet. So I faught and got them painted. Then when I picked the car up they told me the rims were a design flaw by GM. Then in the next sentence they told me they WILL FLASKE AGAIN and the I'm ON MY OWN NEXT TIME. And that I'd be waisting their time asking for them to fix them again. That's why I'll never buy another new GM again......

The issues arent with the Polished wheel . The polished wheel for the 06 and 07 is the same . The painted 2007 is different though and if youve ever seen one in person , the same color hyper black paint looks night and day better .

Heres the 2007 painted wheel ....much more quality looking paint .

this is my update..

i got to talk tot he regional rep of Ontario and told him the whole story on how the dealer sent the rims out 3 times to get re done already ad there still peeling... so he told me thats now he will do 2 of the 4 rims and if the dealer wants to pay for the other 2 then they will go for it.. but he said GM will only pay for the 2 rims.. so a month later ( and the rims sitting at teh dealer) this thing is still not resolved i have not heard from the rep or from the dealer if there going to take the hit for the other 2 rims or not.

so this drama still goes on, there lucky the weather he is still cold or else i'd be even more pissed that i cant have my tires on my car!
