Summer Tires Thread

Ok that time of the year is coming up when the salt finally washes away and we can enjoy nice warm dry roads for the summer.

My winter tires are shot so i'm gonna be gettin some summer tires soon, probably by march.

What are people running?

I'm thinking a set of Nitto NT555's 235/40/18 on my stock ss/sc wheels

anyone have experience and suggestions? i know you do....

I dont track my car, but floor it all the time. Traction would be nice to have.

I ran these last summer and LOVE them!!!!
The only flaw i found was they kinda blow in heavy rain.
Where i live we dont get allot so it doesnt bother me when it rains i just granny drive lol
Corners very well, has one of the largest contact patches avail for a street tire.
Also after i tuned it the tq steer was retarded under wot, i would absolutly have to 2 hand it everytime and even then it was scary. After the 555 was installed it harnessed 90 percent of that tq steer.

good luck

I had the Extreme Contact DW last summer and they were great.
Not incredible when it was wet but not as bad as some I've had in the past.
Great dry traction I was happy with the wear on them as well.

I do. I run 235s on 18x8" PF01s with the other mods in my sig. I used them at autox events and even at a track event at RA and they performed great imo. Plus they are fairly inexpensive compaired to their competition. Hooking up on the street with my mods was not an issue, I loved it.

235s on the stock SS/SC rims might be a little much in my opinion. You're running tires almost 1.5" wider than what was meant for those rims.

The Dunlop, Michelin and Continentals mentioned above are all great tires, but also consider the Yokohama S.drive as a lower priced option.

See all tires in your 235/40R18 size here !

I enjoy the Continental DW that I just got in 235/40/18. I've got them on the stock TC wheels and they sure seem to run narrow to me.

depends on the driver, if your roasting the tires all day everyday, then it dosnt matter what tire you buy, your gonna burn through em lol

i get mixed reviews on how long the KDW's last.. some say 20k others 40k.. so i guess it depends on driving style and mods..

i have 3k on mine and 2 AutoX's and they look pretty much new yet so we shall see how things go

the kdw's were hit or miss on if they were going to hold during a pull on my old m62 setup. the RE11s held everything i could throw at them on the street with this new build. even matt and ryan said when they were tuning and stuff, "street driving is gonna be fun, just has street tires". then i got a message about how surprised they were when they held.

i'm not implying they're a crap tire and someone shouldn't buy them. but there are certainly better tires out there than the kdw's.

^you gotta remember the re11's cost like $110/each more than the KDW's too.. I would've looked into them further but cost was a prohibitive factor to me
